Hi,

I'm a newbie with GBPVR and have been trying to get it working on my Vista Ultimate PC. I have a Pinnacle Dual Sat Pro PCI card which is DVB-S.

I have installed GBPVR and changed the BDA.ini to reflect the settings given by filtercheck. However, when scanning for channels it shows Signal Strength 0, Quality 0. I have tried this card with MyTheatre and it works fine.

Help........

I dont really know anything about this device, but reproduce the problem then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll see if anything stands out.

Hi Sub,

Here are the log files. Note: I have put a DVB-T card in there too and this works ok - albeit with a limited number to channels found.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

The app was never about to use the device because of the above error. You'd usually get this if some other software in the machine was holding on to the device.

Hi Sub,

I have now decided to switch to a different machine that I believe is "clean". It has no other tuners and is an XP MCE2005 machine.

Attached are the log files which show a different error "ERROR pTuner->get_TuneRequest() failed: 80004002".

As this is a Dual tuner card, I have also tried it with and without Tuner2 enabled but get the same error.

Can you help?????

Many thanks,
Craig.

This isnt the source of your problem. Its normal to get one of these messages in the log, the first time it attempts to use the device (its trying to get the current tuning info, but there isnt any since it hasnt been used yet).

In the logs it looks like it fails to lock any signals, so never manages to find any channels. It could be a quirk of the driver that doesnt like something about GB-PVR, or maybe you've got your LNB settings wrong, or diseqc switch getting in the way

Hi Sub,

I have switched this to an XP Media Center box and still couldn't get it working. I then found that after changing installing GBPVR and setting the LNB setting, I then needed to start up the Pinnacle TV App and watch some channels. Going back to GBPVR and scanning then found the channels.

Many thanks for your help sub.

Thought I had fixed this but it only works once after using Pinnacle TV. Upon fresh boot up of the machine, GB-PVR displays no picture. If I go into Pinnacle TV and change channels a couple of times, GB-PVR then works ok until next reboot.

When scanning for channels (I am in the UK) that too hung but close the config app and restarting still got most of the channels.

Installed latest 1.1.15 and still hangs on scan. However, closed app and managed to configure.
All worked fine. However, after reboot nothing now works!!!!

I have now ordered a Hauppauge Nova-S Plus to see if that will work any better - are there any known issues with UK DVB-S compatibility or does it just seem to be this Pinnacle card?:o

I'm guessing its just something funny about the Pinnacle drivers.
