PVRX2 playback tearing

Just something I noticed when I tested PVRX2 (1.0.16) - playback (live or recorded) tears when there's a lot of change going on in the video (flashing lights for eg, or the title sequence from Doctor Who is a good producer of this effect ).

GBPVR.exe plays back the same media flawlessly. I'm using the Intervideo NonCSS video decoder with the overlay manager on a PAL CRT display (i.e. interlaced). Is PVRX2 perhaps picking up a different set of config values or otherwise using a different method for playback?

The PVRX2 interface always uses the VMR9 Custom renderer, so will only work well if your card has good Direct3D support. The video renderer settings in the config app only apply to the old user interface.

You can try running it with the VMR9 Fullscreen Exclusive renderer by running the PVRX2 executable with the "-fse" command line parameter. It has cured tearing for some users.

That'll be that then! I'll give the FSE version a go. The on-board video on my Asus Pundit (Barebones chassis - looks like a bit of AV kit so gets high SAF score (Spouse Acceptance Factor )) is an ATI Radeon 9100 IGP.

Looks like there's a whole raft of things to tweak in the video driver regarding Direct3D. I'll run through them all this weekend and see if any of them affect playback performance with VMR9.
