Ok - I've searched and searched for this one. I'm running HIP using a Hauppauge MCE Remote - My remote works perfectly in GBPVR with a mix of native support for the MCE remote and a few added buttons with HIP for the missing functions. My problem is launching GBPVR from the Green button. 50% of the time PVRX2 runs without taking focus so I have to get up and walk over to the mouse/keyboard and click onto gbpvr to be able to use it. I've tried /FSE and /topmost (or -topmost) and nothing seems to work. I'll often think I have it - run a few times and can't get it to fault and then the next day it will do it again. Does anyone have a tried and true method - I don't want to fluff with the ideas to send remote codes to the App without having focus as the only thing this pc is used for is GBPVR so having focus is the important bit for me. Seems like a simple ask but blowed if I can get it to work. I recently rebuilt the pc from scratch as I was having intermittent hangs in the app when skipping FWD, this problem is gone now but I'm still having problems getting the remote to launch.

Any suggestions appreciated.

No solution I'm afraid but some sympathy. I'm in exactly the same position, with it intermittently working and then just when I think I've cracked it it happens again!

For what it's worth, I've also set up the remote with the codes that are supposed to send instructions to the app regardless of focus, but it still doesn't always work.

I wrote MVPServerChecker that tries to make sure that the MVP server is always running.

But It also pushes the GUI to the front. I've had the same problem as you, same setup too. Using MVPServerChecker has solved my problem...

should work in -fse mode...it HAS to...
[maybe you used wrong -/ char so it wasn't actually working]

in -fse mode,it's the only app that *can* have focus, so no way to bring it even more forward..

unless you have some other util in tray that's stealing focus...
try killing any tray apps or resident progs and see if it doesn't go away..

I had the same problem, I solved it by going into hips preferances, under the tab alternate input. place a tick in unique keys, instead of execute only when in focus.

Hope that helps

Pete :-)

Ok - I've gone back to -fse in command line options (was trying -topmost but I *THINK* this may be for GBPVR only, not PVRX2). I've ticked the unique keys so I'll see how I go. Chances are even if it doesn't fix it I'll think it has because it'll behave when I test it outside normal use!

Thanks everyone.

Would be interested to know how you get on. With reference to the above posts, I'm using -FSE (it's definitely turned on) but not using HIP.

I've set up the remote.ini with all the 32775 codes to send the app instructions regardless of focus but as mentioned it still doesn't always work. This is when coming out of standby/hibernate - I can see the app running but the remote just doesn't do anything. Solution is usually one of getting up and clicking the screen with the mouse to bring it to the "front", or having to run restartir.exe (which is setup to run after coming out of standby using gbpvrwake.exe).

What I did...
Under HIP preferences alternate input configure the green button to 'launch or show' GBPVR.

Then in the GBPVR profile configure it to do ALT-ENTER ( @{ENTER} ) so it windows / maximises the application

I must admit I gave up on using the native mce dll and use the Hip dll as I wanted to override some of the 'builtin' functions. The only downside is that the remote won't work at the login screen (I have set it to run as a service using srvany but it still doesn't work, I know HIP is running as if I hit the green button then it launches GBPVR even without a user logged in - GBPVR is then running with an error message when I log in!!!!).
Eg I now have power off close GBPVR when in the app & standby the PC when in windows!!

Where do you find that configuration again? When I bring up HIPs config window from the taskbar icon, I don't see any alternate input tab.

I admit I'm pretty dim when it comes to HIP, and just followed the Wiki guide far enough to get hipsend.exe channel changes working correctly.
