I'm confused. I searched the wiki and could not find any information that describes the purpose of the "Navigator" parameter located under the DVD & Remote tab of the Config applet. I assume it has something to do with how you control the playing of the DVD.

Here's the problem. I am trying to switch over from my DVD player to using the DVD function in GBPvr. However, when I start playing a DVD, I have no control over fast forward/rewind until all the initial info is played from the DVD. FF and RW only work once I am able to get the movie itself started.
This can take quite awile on some DVDs. Also, from what I have been able to find out, there is no way to display the top menu level of the DVD (i.e. to select a scene).

So I tried changing the Navigator parameter to something other than "DVD Navigator". Several options appear including Cyberlink DVD Navigator and Nvidia Navigator, but when I select either of these, and then try to start watching a DVD, I only get a blank screen.

I also investigated another possibility - using PowerDVD to watch the DVDs. However, due to display card limitations I need to run GBPvr in fse mode, so PowerDVD will not work while GBPvr is running.

Am I missing something here? My main goal is to watch DVDs from the DVD player in my PC, and to control it with my Fusion Remote Control (which simply changes remote control button presses with corresponding keyboard key presses). Anyone understand the purpose of the Navigator parameter?

Unfortunately skipping these parts of video is not allowed in the DVD spec, and Microsoft obeyed this when they wrote their DVD components. You may find running software like AnyDVD in the background makes it possible to skip past these special sections of DVDs, since these remove the special status of these sections.

While the video is playing, pressing 'escape' once should drop you back to the DVD menu.

<DVDAllowVideoInset>true</DVDAllowVideoInset> in config.xml is also supposed to allow you to press the home/menu button to return to the DVD menu, but seem to remember there was a bug with this at the moment (might have been in 1.0.8, fixed in 1.0.16 - cant remember for sure).

I was frustrated with this my self. I have found that sometimes hitting escape during the "preveiw" sections of the DVD will sometimes also take you directly to the main menu but not always. Also, setting the auto resume to true will allow you to only suffer thru it once and from then on it will automatically resume the DVD from where it left off. The drawback of that is if you finished a movie and left it playing the credits you will have to enter the scene selection to get back to scene one.

or you can press '1' enter, which will cause it to start playback at chapter 1.
