I had installed a commercial PVR trial package. I then tried GB-PVR which works very nicely. So I uninstalled the commercial software trial and GB-PVR no longer functions correctly. When I go to the channel scan only the last channel i was watching shows up with no audio. A scan results in nothing found.

If I reinstall the commercial trial everything in GB-PVR funcitons again. What do you suppose the commercial package is installing that my installation of GB-PVR requires ? I would like to remove the trial software.

I am using it for OTA HDTV. I run vista with an ATI 650 Theater pro. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

My guess is that it was SageTv. There was an issue found on the HDHomeRun forums where uninstalling Sage could break the Windows BDA drivers.

Try right-clicking c:\windows\inf\bda.inf and choose "Install". You will then need to restart the GB-PVR Recording Service and also GBPVR/PVRx2 if they were running.

S*geTV is the product.
I reinstalled GB-PVR from scratch, rebooted, re-registered filters. The only thing that makes GB-PVR to work flawlessly for me is to reinstall S*ageTV (and I don't even have to start it up and I don't require a reboot).

I am using the latest version of GB-PVR 1.1.5 and had the same thing problem with 1.0.16.

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Here are the logs.

I ran the channel scan after uninstalling SageTv. Everything was fine before that. The scan returned the same channel each time and there was no sound with the channel. I rebooted and tried the scan again and got the same result. Reinstalling SageTv corrects the problem without a reboot.

I tried the suggestion for installing bda.inf but that did not seem to help either.

Thanks for looking.

I wonder how many others have experienced this. I had originally thought that GB-PVR did not work since I had first uninstalled SageTV before I initially tried GB-PVR. I went back and gave GB-PVR another shot after I reinstalled Sage TV and that is when I discovered this problem.

When I was uninstalling SageTV, the uninstall requested that both Windows Media Center and GB-PVR be shut down to continue or a reboot was required so I assumed it was uninstalling something they were using Sad .

Unfortunately for me it was a new PC and I had been installing a lot of software so my system restore did not go back to pre sage install time.

If I ever get I solution I will update this thread.

Thanks for the responses.

i know its not i deal but just leave sage installed if its not open it wont really be using any resources
does media portal work?

from memory there was someone else with your problem a while back but i think he gave up i tried all sorts to get him sorted but he never com up with the answer or the fact that it worked if you left sage installed so i guess at least you are further ahead than him
i think he installed ona blank hard drive but said it wasnt acceptable and gave up i think
i wonder what the files are that sage removes when it un-installs
