Hi everyone. First off, I'm a total noob to gbpvr. Second, I did try to search for this, but did not come up with anything. So...

How many MVPs can I put on a network using gbpvr?

The Hauppauge web site has this, "The Latest software available for the MediaMVP supports up to 12 MediaMVPs on a home network." Do this still stand when using gbpvr?

Thanks.

Yeah, it should do this many. I've never tried it though.

12? That's good news.

Now all I have to do is make mine support the 2 I already have. Can get one working but the other "failed to connect to GUI server" which is odd as it IS able to download the firmware image.

Did you set 'Number of servers to autostart:' on the MVP tab in config to 2?

Yeah did that. Set it to 5 but still no joy. And turned off the firewall and shut off VNC. It just plain won't let the second one boot up properly. And as if that's not bad enough the logs only note the first one which works just fine.

I can push this problem back and forth between my ywo MVP's so I know there's nothing wrong with one of them.

OK - I assume you have two ethernet cables connected to a hub/router/switch - pick either one of your MVPs - can you get it to work on each of your ethernet cables?

Yep. I can get both MVP's to work on their own but put two of them on together and only the one that boots first get in. The second one gets "failed to locate GUI server".

So with MVP 'A' connected to Cable 'A' and MVP 'B' connected to Cable 'B' - you can get either connected if you start it up first?

I've got a follow up question. If gbpvr can support up to 12 MVPs on the same network, why is the 'Number of servers to autostart:' on the MVP tab limited to a maximum of 8? Is there anyway around this?

Just because I didnt think we'd ever see a user running this many in the one house. This is just a limit in the gui though - you can edit config.xml and set <MVPServerAutostart> to any number you want. In theory it'd support more than 12. I wouldnt want to try it though unless you're running a very big server PC on very fast network.

Are you really going to try running this many? Is this for some type of business or do you have a lot of kids?
