Hi all,
I'm in Canada on Shaw cable, if that matters... and I'm new to PVRs... I have a Hauppauge HVR-1600 and am having issues getting the channels to "tune" correctly. The picture isn't bad I don't think... but the audio portion has a bunch of static. The behavior exists in the Hauppauge "WinTV" application as well.
However, when I test drove SageTV, I didn't have any issues... it was clear. Other TVs etc on the same cable are fine. In WinTV, there seems to be a way to fine tune each station. If I offset the channel by either + or - "6" (they don't say 6 what... MHz? who knows) it cleared up... much further than that and the picture started to get static as well.
Because going above and below the standard frequency helped, I'm wondering if I need an attenuator or something, but I'm just randomly guessing.
Anyone run into something similar?
Thanks!
Travis
