Ripped DVD VOB playback - dvd menus?

I've just tried ripping a DVD to VOB files for the first time, and have copied them onto my gbpvr pc. I can play back the DVD fine, but the DVD's menu doesn't seem to work, in that I can't seem to navigate around - so choosing what to watch is a bit hit and miss. Is this meant to be like this or is something in my setup broken?

The DVD menus work ok on the disks I've ripped. I've used DVD Decrypter to rip them.

If you've chosen to remove stuff during the rip, it might have broken the menu?
