Hi

EDITED: (Please read later posts it seems to be a "webalias" problem!...)

I have two Netcards (The server is a bridge between my local net and the internet).

I know all about FW and NAT settings...

But no matter what it only works on the local IP adress 10.0.0.2 and not on the public IP....Is there a conf setting in GB-PVR that I can set?

Cheers
Casperse

Both!

When sitting on the local LAN it works great, and my girlfriend cxan schedule her recording through this.

But when I am travelling alot! then I would like to access the same webserver from the WWW and so far it looks like the webserver in this lovely program is only "serving" on the local LAN card.

I have worked for different companys, and know my way around checkpoint firewalls, Nokia Ipso, and win XP settings...cisco router setup etc... So im not a novice either [Image: biggrin.gif]

I just need to know if this program have some configuration beside the GUI.

Cheers

To get to it from the public network, you have to open the port (default 7647) through your router or firewall to the machine running the GBPVR Recording Service. (Don't forget about Windows's own firewall.) That service has to be running, which (I think) means the machine has to be logged on. (It runs in the system tray.) To open the port, your machine needs a static IP on the LAN, not "Obtain automatically", because you don't want its address changing. You also have to know your public IP address (WAN side of your router). Go to http://www.ipchicken.com to find that if you don't know it. Also, that may change from time to time if you don't have a static IP from your ISP. That, of course, is the address you use from outside.

There's no separate configuration to serve the public Internet vs. the private LAN.

Suppose your public IP turned out to be 69.43.75.214. Then from the Internet, you would browse to:

http://69.43.75.214:7647/gbpvr/login.aspx

and it should come up. (Apologies if that's really somebody's address out there.) If it doesn't, something's blocking it. There's nothing else in GBPVR to configure.

I found the error - All my links is normally https and not http so the link I added to the DNS on the www had a https entry.

It almost works now!
My problem is that when I try login I get a error message:

"Invalid username or password." and in the left corner I get:
"Error finding config.xml"

This is strange because if I use the local IP adress IT WORKS!
http://10.0.0.2:8081/gbpvr/Guide.aspx

But if I substitute it with the Public IP:
http://245.112.21.212:8081/gbpvr/Guide.aspx
I get the message above?
Please Help

Any Ideas?
Sound like a bug or a error 40....Me [Image: wow.gif]

You wouldn't happen to be using a webhop from Dyndns.org would you?  I had the same error after setting up a webhop with a cloaked URL.  It works fine now, after I turned off URL cloaking on the webhop.

Hmm dont know about cloack?

But I just found out that if you give it a DNS entry like:

Ex:

http://www.vcr.myhomepage.dk ---> http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8080/gbpvr/Login.aspx

I dosent work!!! WHY? OOOOH WHY?
Somehow a DNS alias FU**KS it up!

Any wizard who can tell me why [Image: rock.gif]?

Yup, that's exactly how the webhop with cloaking feature from dyndns.org works. I type in my short & simple URL, and it redirects to the longer/harder to remember URL. With cloaking enabled, the short URL shows in the address bar. With it disabled, the real address shows. Not sure why cloaking causes it to fail.
