I'd have no idea. GB-PVR doesnt set it, so you'll get whatever the video decoder/renderer agree upon.

Ok, understood. Is the renderer the correct one if I use VMR9 custom? (Video Mixing Renderer 9)?

rob11252 Wrote:Gazoo, if I understand correctly you want to force GBPVR to use your favorite filter. I stumbled on this in http://babgvant.com/forums/p/371/1731.aspx:
"You can use the ffdshow action in the advanced actions download... construct graph in graphedit, then remove the file source and decrypt filters and save it as a .grf file, then configure the action to use that grf."

It maybe the solution. I haven't tried any of this myself. I don't even know if it makes sense!

This is pretty much what I want, but I think this example in particular is just for dvrmstoolbox and doesn't seem to apply to me.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm not sure what else to do since I don't know how to force filters within GBPVR.

I would also like to say that this whole video codec crap sucks pretty bad. However, I believe it would have been much worse using a Linux or the like based htpc software like myth. At least I have lots of support from within this forum and using windows.

I will let you know if this ever gets resolved. I have to believe that this is an ATI drivers issue that will be eventually resolved.

I forgot to post this, but I had limited success finally by tweaking stuff in CCC. I set the renderer to VMR9 custom and codec to ATI in GBPVR. In CCC, I turned everything off that I could 3d related, took some stuff out of "application controls" and set it down to the lowest possible or performance settings, and set the deinterlacer for Bob. I also did a reboot with these settings set as described. Indeed, I finally did get HA going in GB-PVR. However, it looks pretty crappy. By crappy I mean: screen tearing, a little bit of fluctuation (not very noticeable) that I can only describe as dropped frames even though no dropped frames, some graininess, a bit of pixelation, colors not as good as usual, etc. Also, with the added overhead of GB-PVR+VMR9, I only shaved off about 13% CPU (went from 43% to 28-30%) which did not seem like a good compromise for the worse quality. So in the end, I went back to software decoding until ATI can make better drivers. In the end I went back to EVR, with ATI mpg codec which is all software decoding, but it does looks good now. The CPU can keep up fine as stated above, and SD barely registers (like 3-4%).

Oh, and I also added in the HD registry tweaks for the HD3x00 series that someone suggested in one of my other posts. With that I got vertical sync control and some others, but the vertical sync didn't seem to do anything either way. The reboot and the other checkboxes seemed to help the most.

And I was never able to get Cybervideo codec to do anything at all in VMR9..I got a green screen with barely a hint of what I was watching.

Thanks for all the input though.

i get evr accelleration in xp....20% on 1080i...10% on sd...
while same setup uses around 40% in vmr9 for 1080i and 20% for sd...
HD3450 and 3650....
what is the core speed of your gpu? my 3450 is 700 and 3650 is 750..
the 3450 barely is able to do 1080i but does the rest perfect...the 3650 is about same...[only slightly better on 1080i]

but with evr on xp they're both sweet in all modes..Big Grin
gotta apply the evr patch...[evr.dll] for aspects...
but other than that, no tweaks needed, default settings even ok in CCC...
[but probably best to set to auto,it does adjust well]
and use ati decoder...

ati decoder sets the deinterlacer in vmr from your settings in CCC....
it IS using hardware deinterlacing, and probably more...ati cards all do IDCT and MC in hardware, [since radeon 7000 series] whereas only the newest nvidias do motion compensation in hardware..

oh, and one other very important thing, don't use default demux...
[demux/splitter,same thing]
the ms one suffers with HD content...i use hauppauge or sonic mainconcept demux, with fast seeking enabled...works a charm...
[you have to open properties and check fast-seek once and it'll stay]
you'll have to drop that one in config yourself..under default demux..

before i changed the demux, hd never worked right with anything...

where did you get that dialog? graphedit? i don't see anything like htat when i right-click my renderer...Sad
what version of gaphedit are you using?

ah, found it...didn't have roppage.dll regged...Smile

I get the same problems with H.264 content so I still really think it's the drivers. I just blew out the beta drivers and installed the ATI drivers from April 16 (I think) and it went back to full junkiness. It's definitely the drivers. The beta drivers weren't exactly ready for prime time but at least my system acknowledged that it could do HA - these official latest drivers make my system say the no HA is possible for any driver. I'm hoping next release in a few weeks will do it finally. For now, running in EVR and software decoding works fine.

I believe I am getting hardware deinterlace but no hardware acceleration. This motherboard (with the integrated HD3200 in it) has been out since Jan-Feb time frame and it is incomprehensible to me that ATI has such crappy drivers 4 months later. It wouldn't be so bad if this was a regular run of the mill motherboard release but this is its new much touted 780g super motherboard. I really don't understand how any of the reviews got HA to happen - I'm thinking Vista is being taken care of first and to hell with XP so the reviewers were probably using Vista beta drivers. This is real surprising considering Vista uptake has been lousy at best. I also haven't had much input from anyone else on this board with the same MB - maybe not many people have it or if they do, don't know what to look for. End of rant..

My CPU is a 3800+ which is a 2GHz AMD dual core.

your ranting is appreciated Wink
i wanted to build a 780G system myself but did not have enough time & what really pissed me off was that they've dropped the s-video out support they had in 690G. we're a bit behind regarding HD, only on FTA HD channel broadcast via satellite, so no real need for a HDTV till now Wink
i might still give it a try or wait for the 780M (mobile flavour with component out)...
