Hi, I'm a newbie to this pvr technology and just starting to catch up with the rest of the world. I'm using the new gb-pvr ver.09010 and pvr250(with new remote - silver). This pvr software is great. It's really fun to use it. I just some question to ask hopefully someone could provide some answers.

1. I tried changing/switching channel by pressing the number keys but it didn't work. Is there something I need to change(config?) or GB-PVR simply doesn't support it. It seems like the only way I can switch to any channel I want is by using the tvguide while watching livetv.

2. Some of the buttons in my IR remote doesn't work(mute,go,power,videos,music,pictures,prev. channel,etc.) Can someone help me configure the irremote.ini file. It would be nice to have these buttons working.

3. Is there a way to launch programs/apps or control my pc without using GB-PVR and just map it in the irremote.ini? (e.g launch a video/audio player, open music folder, shutdown windows, etc.) Kind of like the MS Media center. Can I map such configuration in irremote.ini?

hit the number then "ok".

enter the config, click the "fix 45 button remote settings" and then close the config, and open the config.xml file found in the gpbvr directory (with notepad or another editor), you should see this

just change those values to the plugin names you want to activate when you press the button eg

yeah you can, i cant remember the code for it in the irremote.ini file, but if you do a search on this forum for &quot;irremote.ini&quot; and &quot;launch&quot; you should find it (someone posted a tip to launch gbpvr when you press the go button).

Thanks for replying &quot;reven&quot;. For my first question, yeah I figured it out. I tried editing the config.xml for changing the channel without pressing the &quot;OK&quot; button, but it didn't work.

For the second question, there still some buttons that i don't know how to configure. I'm not really familiar with xml. For example(while running GB-PVR), my music and pictures button in my remote(new-45 buttons-silver) doesn't work. I looked at the irremote.ini and the values of music={f4} and pictures={f5}. I looked at other peoples values and mine's the same. For some reasons it won't execute. Can someone give me the complete irremote.ini configuration for the new 45 remote button. I would like to know the complete keyboard commands so I can map with the buttons(esp. prev. channel button)

For the last question, I haven't really looked that up yet but yeah, it would be nice to control windows xp by using the remote(like launching gb-pvr or viewing specific folders or files)

I got an extra question, can I force gb-pvr to change resolution(1024x768) when it launch? It seems like when I run gb-pvr(full screen mode) I would go full screen mode but I could still see the windows task bar

I hope I get more replies. Once again, thanks for the help. I hope you guys can help me with my questions and other ones to come.

Hi, I just want to say that I have finally figured out the answers to my questions(almost, except for the follow up ques.) I finally got most of the buttons to work on the extended hauppauge remote(except for prev. channel).

For historic reasons, the yellow button takes you to the previous channel.

Suppose you wanted to make Guide2J your default guide, do you edit the config.xml from
<DefaultPluginGuide>TV Guide</DefaultPluginGuide>
to
<DefaultPluginGuide>Guide2J</DefaultPluginGuide>
?

Would the 45 button remote still access it properly?
