As far as I can tell everything from the GB-PVR side of things is fine, but the device never manages to lock onto a signal.

Are you sure you have the correct option chosen to match the type of signal you're feeding it? You're currently using the non-QAM device setting, so its expecting an antenna to be plugged in, with decent ATSC signals present.

Honestly, I wasn't sure which to use. The card has an ATSC and an NTSC port. The software offers both a QAM and non-QAM card to use. I honestly don't know enough about the signal I am getting from Georgia Tech's cable system (http://www.gtcn.gatech.edu) to make an educated decision, so I have been trying all the possibilities. The dorms have a coax drop and I am pretty sure that each channel is an independent Dish Network Receiver. So I think that changing channels on the TV in the room causes your signal to be transferred to another receiver (which represents the new channel you want). We do have a couple HD channels, their channel numbers include decimal points, so I think that means they are QAM. If you could enlighten me on whether I need to use the NTSC or ATSC port and if I need to set GBPVR to QAM or non-QAM, I'd really appreciate it.

PS When I try to scan for channels in non-QAM mode, it appears to only look through 68 channels. Georgia Tech offers a good bit more channels than this, does this mean I need to be in QAM mode? Sorry for all the questions, I really appreciate your help.

I have no idea what signals you receive.

If you're trying to digital channels via an antenna, then use the "VistaView Saber" option. If you're trying to get channels via digital cable, then use the "VistaView Saber (QAM)" option.

Hello again, I finally got it up and running, but now I've run into another problem. First of all, I realized that Georgia Tech cable is an analog signal, so I set the input source to ViXS PureTV under "Analog Recording Plugin". This seemed to fix the problem, I was able to watch and record TV. After about a week of not using the problem, I came back to it only to find that I could not see any video. The audio signal was still intact, and I tried switching out the cable, with no luck. It seems a little odd for something like this to happen, but do you have any ideas as to what I might try to fix the problem? Thanks again!

Try changing the video decoder you are using for playback.

If you're hearing the audio, but not seeing the video, its probably just related to the video decoder you're using. Make sure you dont have the video decoder setting set to 'system default'.

I assume you are talking about the decoders under the playback tab of the configuration, but they are for mpeg2, aac, h.264, etc. Aren't these for recorded video? I'm just not sure why it might have been working then, but isn't now. What codec should I focus on? Sorry for the probably simple questions, thanks for your help.

Yes, the MPEG2 decoder is what we're talking about. It applies to both recorded video and live tv.
