My system specs are in my sig...

I've been using GBPVR for at least 2 years now and have always had this issue, I figure it's about time I fix it. heh.. Recording is fine, quality could be a little better but it's not bad. My issue is dark, low light and night time scenes. It is almost unwatchable, is there some way to turn up the brightness for recordings?

I have not tried burning to DVD and playing back on a DVD player, maybe I should try this and see what the result is.

Any help would be great!

Thank you.

Yeah, might be worth trying a DVD.

I'm guessing your problem is actually the TV out on your video card. If you want recordings to be slightly brighter to compensate though, you could look at the HauppaugeTweakTool, which I think has settings for this.

the brightness settings at top in direct.ini should work also...
i find those work for every analog card out there, as they all have procamp sections..
i use the sharpness on all my cards to fine tune quality..
even with multiple cards they seem to all react similarly to those settings..
downside is, they alter the recording itself, like Haup.tweak tool...

better solution is to tweak the video card's output to that monitor...
usually keeping default color/brightness settings for the recording are best, so when burnt to dvd for example, it'll look normal...

The default settings on the PVR-150 are pretty dark. Download a copy of the Hauppauge Tweak Tool (there's a post on the site that has a link to it) and start tweaking the settings. I've been tweaking mine quite a bit, trying to get the playback to look more like the original. You can watch the changes take place by starting a recording, then selecting the same program in the guide and select "Play". Now skip ahead in the recording until you are caught up with the live show. Next, bring up the tweak tool and start tweaking. You'll see the changes on screen in just a couple of seconds as video with the new settings are recorded and then played. Using one of my MVP's to do this, I can switch the TV between the live show and the stream coming from GB-PVR and compare the difference in almost-real-time. Smile

Here are the numbers I have set on mine right now:

Brightness-72
Contrast-150
Saturation-125
Hue-45
Sharpness-3

Using those as a starting point might help you get started in the right direction.

(Note: Settings that you change will not be saved unless you remember to select the check box next to each one that you want to change before you click Save Settings.)
