Hello,

When I try to play a DVD, it loads the menus but I don't see the cursor that selects individual items and so cannot play the DVD. GBPVR is set to use DVD Navigator. I see a blank screen if I try to use the Cyberlink Navigator.

This DVD plays fine with PowerDVD.

Thanks

Which DVD decoder are you using?

If you have it set to system default try changing it. If you dont have any other options other than system default you need to try and find one. I think Sub normally reccomends DVD navigator and with cyberlink decoder as a good pairing.

I had the same issues with cyberlink decoders. As Elmo says, the DVD Nagivator should be used and the fact that you have the cyblerlink navigator makes me think you should have at least one, probably 2 cyberlink options under the DVD decoder setting. For me, one of the cyberlink options produces as you describe, the other works fine. Unfortunately I'm at work and cant confirm which works and which doesn't, but try playing around with the decoder.

I followed whurlston's advice
---------
"The "MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)" works (tested with EVR. sub, can you add this to the master list?). The filename is "Mpeg2DecFilter.ax" and the latest build of the MPC-HC standalone filters can be downloaded from http://www.xvidvideo.ru/content/view/641/1/

This also looks to be a continuation of the MPV filter. Just make sure you get the x86 build if you are running Win x64. "
---------
This along with the standard dvd navigator and latest ffdshow for audio and dvd's play purfect (actualy navigation mark is missing from screen untill you move it the first time then all is fine) excellent picture quality & hardware acceleration.

You need to add the decoder to config, xml

I also have 2 Cyberlink options under decoder. As the drop down box is too short both look the same - they start with Cyberlink video/SP decoder - I can't dee any more than this. I tried both options and still don't see the cursor.

As far as the download, I am not sure which link to follow on that Russian page and how to install it - if this is the only way to make things work, I'd appreciate more detailed instructions.

Thanks

You need to download the package - standalone_filters-svn1004_x86 2009-02-22 21:09:00 2.94 Mb
Use 7zip or similar to extract "Mpeg2DecFilter.ax" to Windows/system32
Then run -
regsvr32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Mpeg2DecFilter.ax
either from cmd prompt or copy into notepad and save as .bat file then double-click
next open config.xml (in the devnz/GBPVR folder) in notepad and add
,MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)
to the supported DVD decoder line.
After a reboot the mpc decoder will be on the list of video decoders in the config DVD window.
You might need to update to the latest directx form microsoft and also install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 redistributable (I think thats what the web site says) (in english in among the Russian)
This has been the only codec that works with the menus that I have found so far

Will these instructions allow me to play ripped DVD's easier? I am having trouble ripping DVD's to the hard drive then trying to play them back thru the mvp. They play fine on my PC, but thru MVP, depending on how I convert them, they either won't play or the audio sync is way off. If this is off topic here, please feel free to advise me so or direct me to the correct forum postings. I have been searching....

Hi,

Thanks again - I followed your installation instructions - everything works now, although not perfectly - the screen freezes once in a while and requires restart - not very often, though.

Regards
