i am definitely sure i have QAM channels
maybe they use a different file for these
though i don't see how this will help me to get GBPVR to see them

Because GB-PVR was unable to lock onto any signal, we wanted to know exactly what frequencies WinTV found the channels so we can confirm GB-PVR was scanning those frequencies.

got it
well i will check tonight for another file, or maybe uninstall wintv and reinstall then scan and see if the QAM channels show up
but there are some weird things i notice in the hcw_chanDB file... like it says the last channel is 46 but i have 70 analog channels and it shows all 70
i don't know... got me all messed up... haha

if you guys get any ideas let me know, i got one more day till the wife gets home, then i probably won't get to see the computer for a week

You might try the Hauppauge tuning meter software to check signal strength.
IIRC, it will tell you when the scan changes channels on the card. It may tell you something.

You might also try taking out all your splitters to maximize signal strength - connect direct from the incoming cable at the house entrance to one of the card inputs and scan each source. GBPVR should get anything WinTV can get, but it wouldn't hurt.

downloaded the free trial of beyondtv...
I didn't get all the way through the setup last night but i did scan for QAM channels and picked up around 26 of them i think...

Is there any file that stores the channel list, or frequencies, for beyond tv??

I also installed the latest beta drivers for my 2250 and rescanned with GBPVR with no luck... something has to be missing

Maybe I'll try reinstalling 1.3.11 and running the scan with no patches installed... I'm sure this is pointless, but i'm gonna try everything before I pay $100 for the same thing

Maybe I'm grasping at straws here, but do you have BDA drivers installed for your card or WDM? I'm not sure how you could scan in GBPVR without BDA drivers, but perhaps Beyond TV and WinTV can talk to WDM drivers. GBPVR requires BDA.

There's an XML file that BTV stores the data in but I can't remember what it is called or where it is located. It's been a few years since I did anything with BTV.

PM me your zip code and I'll look up the frequencies you should be getting.

I have no idea about the BDA drivers
I'll have to look around and see tonight, any easy way to see what type of drivers are installed?

OK, this is what I suspected: you are on a cable system that uses HRC frequencies. I updated the QAM.ini manager for that but I need to find where I posted it. Give me a few minutes.
