OK
First I made sure that I had all most recent patches. Then I did the test as requested; logs attached.
I also monitored the signal quality. On my HDHomerun it is the SECOND bar which shows signal quality and it stayed rock solid at 100% the third bar on my ap is labeled "symbol quality" and it was 100% as well. Signal strength was 94%.
The ts file created was 0 bytes; and the screen goes black if I try to play file from within the guide; but does not crash.
