Problems with new version

I'm getting a very unhelpful "Installation ended prematurely because of an error" message trying to install 10407 on XP.
I firat installed the new c runtime, backed up my gbpvr.db3 and config.xml, shut down the tray icon, and ran the installer. After a few minutes it dsaid it was rolling back the installation and then gave the above message.

I tried restoring the files and running the 10311 installer, and got the same result - so now it looks like I can't go back, either!

Thinking there might have been some currupt files in the old directory, I tried installing to a new location, and got the same message. Is there an install log somewhere, that I could look for clues?

Are you aware that in addition to the steps above, when you shut down the tray icon you should also stop the GBPVRREcordingService? The tray icon prog and the recording service are the two active programs that prevent you from deleting the GBPVR directory, installing over it, etc.

Yes, (I didn't the first time) but I verified that the GBPVRRecording service was shut down and re-ran the installer with the same result. It quits just after updating all the registry info - maybe it's having a problem writing to the registry?

sc delete "gb-pvr recording service"
from the command line, then try the install again.

new problem --- pvrx2 starts and immediately exist. The erroe message is

I have an NVIDIA GEForce 6200, and upgrading the drivers did not help.
My settings in config have been
video Renderer: VMR9 Custom
video decoder: NVIDIA / Prefer VMR9
and haven't changed in many months.

Waht am I missing?

Previous version of GBPVR? Wouldn't the installer remove them?
More important, how would I identify the offending dll?

Yes, otherwise we'd see many reports of the same problem.

The main cause of this happening is the user manually installing a patch they think they need, but was really intended for a previous release. Some times we've had cases of plugin installs adding old versions of files.

Post a directory listing of 'c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr' and I'll see if any of the main files are dated before the 1.4.7 release.
