Hi,
I have the 'ATI Mpeg video decoder' installed and selected and it works well for playback of video files and live tv, but when i try to select it (in the config utility) for DVD playback it isn't on the list.
Is there a reason for this?
thanks

It only lists decoders that identify to windows that they can handle CSS encrypted video. I'm guessing this decoder doesnt.

yeah, the ATI mpeg decoder from the avivo download doesn't handle CSS.

They used to, as part of ATI Multimedia Center. You couldn't download it directly though, it came on a CD with the video card. Updates were only available if you first proved your entitlement by inserting said CD. This is because the CSS bit was licensed software.
AFAIK no current version is available.

@sub: as many GB-PVR users are really only interested in playing back non-css DVD's (ie, video_ts folders, ISO's), it may be worth having an option to enable non-css capable decoders. Perhaps through a config.xml setting, either an explicit list of additional decoders (ala 1.311 and prior), or a flag like <ShowNonCSSDVDDecoders>true</ShowNonCSSDVDDecoders>

I'll try adding the latter for the next release. It'd be set to false by default though.

Yes, of course, it should be.
