Unfortunately because you are AutoStarting two MVP servers, there is no server-side logging showing up. In one of the putty logs I see the Warning message about a PTS change which indicates the timeline is bad and the file is not seekable. GBPVR responds to one open asking to seek to end of file I can only guess that bad PTS values from the file are being returned to GBPVR to cause this action.

Will repeat the same logs with one MVP server but that has to wait till tomorrow. You know, the wife Big Grin

Martin: attached are 3 sets of logs with MVP servers set to 1.

1. with video library menu: 1 min play (picture not dimmed), 11min skip, 0,5 min play, stop, resume (was o.k.), 30 min skip, stop, resume (was on right spot);

2. with recordings menu: 1 min play (picture remained dimmed), 11 min skip, picture thereafter not dimmed, play, stop, resume and complete crash;

3. with recordings menu: 1,5 min play (picture dimmed), pause, play (picture back to normal), stop, resume (was o.k.), play for couple of minutes, stop, resume, not o.k. went back to recordings menu. Went to video library, choose same show, logo popcorn hour buffering shone through picture from show and suddenly got Saya TV and had to reboot NMT.

My preliminary conclusion: when using Video Library the logic seems more robust then in the Recordings menu.
Let me know if you need logs from specific actions.

Martin: I have tested your beta 11/2 version with the 2 Eurosport HD TS recordings which are notorious for their bad timelines.
Skipped for- and backward, paused/played, stopped and resumed and till now found no problems.
Both files are slightly less than one hour so today I will make a longer recording to check if it is also working correctly with large files.
Only (cosmetic) problem is that a show always starts with a dimmed picture till the first pause/start. This is only with a new start, not with resume. You have already the logs from yesterday with this phenomenon and again: only with the Recording menu not with the Video Library menu. Perhaps this can be a clue: it happens with 720p, not with 576p or PAL.

Thanks for all your efforts till now Cool

Good to hear and thanks for testing so quickly. The irony is the crash was caused by a debug message I put in to check for Skeik Yerbouti's problem but he never encountered that particular timing issue so I tackled the problem differently.

As for the dim I find that GBPVR is rather braindead about how it send OSD updates to GBPVR anyway and I think sub might be partially addressing this in 1.5. It is a timing issue too but I'm not going to look to deeply for a solution until 1.5 is available. The dim is a problem only on 720p because as I've posted I cannot control the alpha channel in the OSD. That is also why it looks so washed out.

Thanks for the information.
I can understand that the debug check could cause a crash but why the debug check also screwed up the skipping and resuming I don't understand. Has it any relation?

As at this moment I am doing a manual 4 hours recording from Eurosport HD. See what that gives.

Is the dimming also a problem with HDMI or is it only depending on the resolution?

The debug check is on resume from the recording menu. It is memory corruption printf was "%d %s" and not "%s %d" so the problems don't necessarily happen in a controlled manner.

720p is dim on HDMI too. 1080i/p do not have this problem but they flicker more.

Have just tested the manual 4 hour Eurovision HD recording. Have done all possible commands like skipping, pausing, stopping and resuming and no problems. That is no guarantee I know but nevertheless a fine achievment Big Grin

Thanks for your help and I am sure that a lot of other users with corrupted timelines are helped with this.
I asume that you are now going to update your official release.

As I played with your sample I think the biggest problem in the beginning of the files isn't a bad timeline, I find that audio stream starts seconds before video stream, probably due to the beginning of the video stream getting discarded. Glad we have this piece.

Yes I expect there will be an official release tomorrow. I've passed this on to the beta group first there were a few other things fixed.

I am discarding the first scrambled packets. Perhaps that is only video, not audio.
