Crash bug - debug assertion failed, Cyberlink

I cleaned out the installation of Powervcr and retried a version 5 dll. Looks like there might have been some conflict. It's still broken, but now I get to the scan page with the version 5 mpgmux.ax and get the following config log.

Incidently in this case I am presented with an error about not being able to talk to my hardware (unable to start BDA device). This is new behaviour, and only happens if I press ignore on the assert failure.

No I haven't tried other software yet. It's a clean install.

The video device announces itself as the following:
PCI\VEN_109E&DEV_036E&SUBSYS_00011822&REV_11\3&267A616A&0&A0

Windows is using the HCL certified Twinhan driver dated 26 Feb 2004 version 2.4.1.0 and reports no problems.

Thats sounds like an odd driver version. I dont think you've got the BDA drivers installed. The latest Twinhan BDA driver version is something like 1.2.1.9. Is it possible you have the old proprietary DTV drivers installed and not the BDA ones?

Yeah looks like I had non-bda drivers installed. I have now installed the BDA drivers but I now get "unable to start bda device you have configured" or something to that effect when scanning for channels.

As far as I can tell there is nothing else using the device, and the BDA driver is properly installed. In control panel/hardware I have:

TwinHan PCI BDA Tuner Driver (MCE UK-8MHz) v1.2.1.7.

Are the filters likely part of a separate package? How can I tell if they are installed properly?

I noted in the following log that it was looking for a BDA capture filter "T" (just "T"), instead of "Twinhan PCI BDA Capture Filter":

Ignore the "T" thing. Thats just a debug message failing to show a unicode string. Its failing to find a filter called "TwinHan PCI BDA Capture Filter"

If you download and run graphedit.exe (google for it), what does it say the name of this component is? From graphedit, select Graph -> Insert Filter -> "BDA Receiver Component" to see the name.

If you upgrade from the DTV drivers, you need to upgrade both the DTV Audio and DTV Video, otherwise you've only half upgraded to BDA.

Yeah I wiped out (uninstalled) both of the old drivers before installing the new ones.

Dang. Didn't notice but Windows was still insisting on loading up its default driver for the audio. Fixed now, and it runs a scan (yay!).

At the moment it's not picking up any channels and only appears to be scanning for six or eight of them (not sure if that's normal). I just get a message "check signal". I know the signal is OK because it works in my TV, but I haven't verified this second cable (will test it in a sec). Is this likely a cabling issue or something else?
