What's New @ 17 seconds is a great example of what I see (and yes I use an IP) all the recordings screens are bad. I'll post some more details in a few weeks, I'd like to compare wired/wifi and the timeout too since the reconnect is really slow.

Even with What's New days set to 30, it displays almost instantly for me on my server and my client. I've also never seen the database locked messages in my logs.

After I have connected it's fine. When I let it run in the background and start up 1/2 hour later is when I have slowdowns but they are in the 5-10 second range.

My main HTPC, (the server) runs NextPVR 24/7 and is inactive at least an hour or longer before I access the recording screen. Reboots are (maybe) once a month. Inactivity time depends on how long it takes to put the kids to bed.

I mean inactivity time on the client. When I come via NEWA or X-NEWA, there is no delay so I don't think there is much backend overhead. In fact NEWA nowe runs faster remotely on my i7 client then directly on my backend which is a C2D

I'll set up my test on my client machine tomorrow. I usually only have NextPVR running on that when I'm using it (also my dev machine).

As a slightly different test I rebooted server and client and this time accessed "Recordings" from the client first and "What's New" which contains 33 items displayed in 2 seconds. Went to server and selected "Recordings" and again 17 second delay before "What's New" displayed. EPG always displayed on both systems within a second and after the first attempt the server also displays the "Recordings" in under a second. It seems strange that NextPVR on the Client can access the data so much quicker than when it is run on the local server.

However as I probably use the client for 90% of the time I use NextPVR its not much of a problem for me in normal use.

I just noticed that I'm still on 2.5.5 so I'm going to update and test.

Can you and Martin post your logs showing the issue? I just tested your scenario with 2.5.5 and 2.5.9 and What's New still displays instantly for me with 72 items. I'm leaving them idle for a while to test Martin's scenario.

I'm not able to reproduce the problem with Martin's scenario either. After one hour idle, What's New still displays instantly on my client.
