I used a homegrown utility that seems to have done the job. Three samples here, first one is a NPVR recording and the other 2 are the files discussed in earlier posts in this thread:

right mine uses
LAV splitter ----Lav video --- video renderer ----fdshow audio decoder ----- default direct sound open Gspot(or what ever you want to change merrit of decoders and lower the ones your is using and increase LAV and ffdshow other way is to remove the offending codecs etc that are not working (ie that DMO crap dunno what it even is,and xvid ) then reinstall theffdshow and LAV (think lav can do sound also cant remember why i dont use it for sound) but increasing merrit. You can load Klite codec pack it comes with tools to fix things and set things back to default
