Hi,

Can anyone answer a couple of questions for me:-

1) Can I play DVD's on the MVP using GB-PVR? If not why does it have options for DVD settings etc? Is there a set up FAQ for this?

2) Has anyone successfully set up a Twinham SAT CI card with GB-PVR so that you can watch live TV? If so how did you do as I have had lot of problems and still not yet managed it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Many thanks,

David

No

Quote: If not why does it have options for DVD settings etc?
because you can watch DVDs in GB-PVR, but just not when you're using an MVP

Yes, that is the specific DVB device I've done all my GB-PVR development on.

What specifically is giving you problems when you try to use the TwinHan DVB-S CI card?

I have installed the latest standard Twinhan software/drivers 2.06 and then installed the BDA driver from the Twinham web site although I am not convinced I have the correct drivers installed.

When I go to the GB-PVR config programme and edit the Capture Source setting as follows:-

Recording Source - BDA Recording Plugin:-
- Device Type - Twinham DVB-S
- Device No - 1
- Country - All Countries
- Region / Transmitter - Astra , Sirious 1, Sirious 2
LNB LOFT1 - 10600
LNB SWITCH - 10714
LNB LOFT2 - 9750

EPG Source - Bled (UK)

Channels :-
List of various channels BBC1, BBC2 etc......

When I click on the "Map digital channels to EPG channels" I get the following messages:-

"GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA devise you have configured. check the device is configured properly and not already in use. (Reason: failed to located configured BDA capture device)"

Also simultainiously displayed and located under this message is the following message:-

"You will not be able to record or timeshift live TV until you installed the Cyberlink, InterVideo or ShowShifter MPEG2 multiplexer filter. These filters are often installed with other applications, but where not found on this machine. Dont ignore this error"

If I click OK on the first message I get a error box "Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library" with the following error message:-

"Debug Assertion Failed!

Progam: C:\Program File\devnz\gbpvr\Config.exe
File: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio.NET
2003\Vc7\atlmfc\include\atlcomcli.h
Line: 150

Expression: p!=0

For information on how your program can cause an assertion
failure see Visual C++ documentation on assertion

(Press retry to debug the application)

ABORT - RETRY- IGNORE"

If I click on ABORT the program crashes and windows quites to the Desktop.

For info:- I do have Cyberlink Power DVD installed (trial version).

What do I need to do?

Thanks again.

If the TwinHan DTV software works on your machine, then you're not running the BDA drivers. The TwinHan DTV software uses the their proprietary DTV drivers, not the BDA drivers.

Basically those logs are saying GB-PVR couldnt find any TwinHan BDA drivers on your machine. You're probably running the proprietary DTV drivers which are installed with the TwinHan DTV software.

So what is the best way to install the BDA drivers?

Should I just try and install the BDA drivers from the Twinham web site (For PCI 1.2.1.9)?

OR

do I have to uninstall the software?

OR

something else?

Thanks,

David

Yes, you should download and install the 1.2.1.9 BDA drivers from the TwinHan site. Its been so long since I installed my TwinHan drivers that I cant remember the exact details, but its just the same as installing the drivers for any other hardware.

You may want to go into the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Device Manager and uninstall the two DTV drivers first.

Quote:do I have to uninstall the software?
You can if you want. The TwinHan DTV software will no longer function after installing the BDA drivers.
