Looks like a great product, I'm nearly there...

GB-PVR works great on the PC.
Stopped MVP service, started GBPVR MVP service.
Turned on MVP, bingo - main menu.
Entered EPG - all present and correct.
Try any of the "play" options (mp3, live tv, recordings) and the MVP dumps and goes back to "contacting servers", shortly after the GBPVR MVP service throws a .net exception "System.ObjectDisposedException: Cannot access a disposed object named "System.Net.Sockets.Socket".
Object name: "System.Net.Sockets.Socket"."

So close, yet so far...

I'm sure I've done something daft, help!

Can you email your gbpvr.exe.log? I think that when you're running the MVP Server this log is created in another directory, so you might need to do a search on your hard disk.

Finally someone with the same problem as me I have tried everything to get around this, including new OS 2000 and XP, tried every version of MVP software, PVR250 Drivers and GBPVR and always get this error. Mind you mine plays mp3.

If you work it out please, please let me know.

I think the log sub is on about is located where ever you run the shortcut to the exe from , mine was on my desktop so the log was found there too.

In pbj's case. It looked like only one of the two connections to the MVP could be established. The one that is used for sending the media files seemed to be blocked. I suggested looking for anything that could be stopping this port connecting. Possibilities include software firewall, original Hauppauge MVP software, other networking software.

I think pbj said he found he'd only been stopping one of the two hauppauge mvp services? Sorry, I'm away from home and cant check my huge inbox history. [Image: biggrin.gif]

Sub,

That's right, i was only stopping one of the mvp serivces. Followed your advice, but still not getting too far when I try and stream something to the mvp. Looks like a slightly different error this time. The log says that "MVP streaming server received a STOP message".
BTW am using a cross over cable, but I haven't turned DHCP off
Any thoughts?

Hurrah! Success (well v. nearly)

After fiddling with every know I could find in the control panel. I went back to check whether I had the latest version of the Hauppage MVP software... I didn't I was on 1.7 or something like it. Downloaded 2.blah from the website and bingo, we have media!!!

One slight prob left (but I can work round it). When playing mpgs there is no OSD. That's fine, but is a bit confusing when the "resume" message is obviously being displayed (in the sever's mind at least), but I can't see it and playback is paused. Still, hitting ok does the trick...

Great work sub!

Good spotting. I didnt think to check which version you were running. You need version 2.1.22050 or higher to get OSD. I did say this in the "v0.13 release available for download" thread. You can get this version from -

ftp://ftp.shspvr.com/download/mediamvp/m....22050.exe

ooh I am so dumb I have only ever been stopping one service too, however this is only because if I stop both services I get a message saying "failed to locate GUI server". Only when I restart the MVPMediaSrv service does it connect to the GB-Pvr interface.

Am I doing something majorly wrong ? I have searched the forums and start guide but no luck in finding anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Lagrian
