Hi,
I've just installed this card and it all works fine with the Twinhan software, but I can't get it to work with GBPVR.
In the config, I have selected "BDA recording" and then "Twinhan DVB-T", "Device 1", "Southern England", "Crystal Palace"
EPG source I selected "Bleb" and then ticked 3 or 4 of the channels (for the time being) and EPG UPDATE seems to do something when clicked.

When I hit "MAP channels to EPG", I get an error message that "GBPVR was unable to start the BDA device... failed to locate the device"
This is on top of an error about not having any Cyberlink, Showshifter or Intervideo filters.

When I run the main app I don't get any live tv, but I do get all the other bits and pieces.

Where am I going wrong? Where do I start?

Cheers,
Tom

You installed the BDA drivers for your card right? If not, then you need to uninstall the DTV drivers that came with your card and install the BDA which can be downloaded from http://www.twinhan.com

Hi,

Is the recommended BDA drivers to use the ones from TWINHAN then?

That is, I did see people on another forum suggesting spectrum bda drivers at http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?sh...2265&st=15. (I'm about to setup with the Twinhan too)

Use the Twinhan ones not the Spectrum ones.

Thanks - this worked nicely and I have the main bits of GB-PVR working!!!

Which remote control type would you recommend:
(a) MCE Remote - kind of works for some of the Twinhan remote keys, but not really perfectly, re mappings
(b) USB-UIRT looks the best to customise the mappings, but I get the following error when entering the "Settings". I'm running the latest version of GB-PVR. Any suggestions here? (see bottom of post for error)

BTW - Re the xmltv plugin - is the idea that one has to manually setup xmltv to regularly poll (say once a night) and create a new XML file, using the same name each time? Then GB-PVR points to this static file name i.e. I'm guessing the GB-PVR EPG update is just taking the latest XML file and sucking in, but it is still up to us to ensure xmltv itself runs regularly??

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

Yes.

I find the MCE remote to be pretty good, and a worthwhile buy.

Do you have a USB-UIRT plugged in, and have you confirmed its functioning? You do know the USB IR module that comes with the TwinHan remote is not a USB-UIRT right?

I was hoping to get the Twinhan remote to work (i.e. not spend more $$). Can I assume you wouldn't recommend using the GB-PVR setting "MCE remote" for my Twinhan remote? (It does respond to some keys but they are not all correct)

I have my Twinhan USB connected remote plugged in and working if this is what you mean.

Ummm....maybe not then Smile (guess I'm not exactly sure what USB-UIRT is then). What should I do? I thought I'd looked through the WIKI, but if I've missed where this is documented/mentioned somewhere I'd appreciate a pointer.

Thanks again (getting there)

Basically the TwinHan remote isnt supported by GB-PVR. You might be able to get it going using some third party software like Girder, but I dont know for sure. The twinhan remote buttons didnt seem like a good match for the functions offered by GB-PVR, so I've never spent any time looking into it.

Seems unfortunate as the "USB-UIRT" mode looks exactly what one would need to train the system to the Twinhan remote. Also what is interesting is after the error/exception is shown I can still "continue" and get to the "training the remote screen" (sorry - I'm not at the GB-PVR PC at the moment so I can't remember screen names exactly) after which whilst (a) when you push "train remote" against a function it doesn't seem to pickup the remotes button push, but (b) when I am just selecting a function in the left hand column & then use the remote the cursor jumps and responds. For example if I was in the row for "button 2" on the screen, and then hit the Twinhan remote's 6 button, then GB-PVR will jump to row "button 6" on the screen.

If I wanted to persist myself and try to get the twinhan remote working using the GB-PVR remote mode = "USB-UIRT" do you have any suggestions?

Also when you mentioned Girder what was the concept there? e.g. when this software is setup what GB-PVR remote mode should I use. I could try this too.

Tks again

Hi Sub,

Re MCE remotes, is there a particular type to check for to be compatible with GB-PVR? For example isthe following ok?

http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/index.php?....php?input[product_code]=VI-MSMCEREMOTE&input[category_id]=1239

[perhaps there is only one model anyway?]

Tks
