I've just joined the forum, and I did do a search, but couldn't find any solution to my problem, but if I've missed anything, I apologise in advance !

First of all, it's a brilliant prog that I've been using for some time with total success.  I'm an ex-Windows Media Centre user for recording, that I kept going as long as I could after Microsoft dumped it and then until they sabotaged the third party work-arounds. Sad

I use a twin tuner HDHomerun on my home network, and that also has been great for several years now,     with NextPVR as an excellent solution to my needs to record TV progs.

...Finally, to get to my problem,  I've just installed NextPVR on a brand new Windows 11 PC (a neat little fanless job with a very good spec), and it's working perfectly in all respects except the EPG is blank, and on a less important note, there's no channel icons either.

I have each channel set for "DVB/ATSC EPG" and I've tried the "empty EPG" and "Update EPG" buttons, but to no avail.

It's a twin tuner HDHomrun, and all of the channels have been found and can be viewed live and recorded manually.

The really strange thing is that I still have another installation on my previous Windows 10 PC, which still works perfectly and has a fully working EPG guide with the same settings, on the same network and using the same HDHomerun hardware.  The only difference between them that I can see is that one is on Windows 10, and the other is on Windows 11.

I've attached my log files, in case they can help resolve my problem.

It looks like you don't have the required SiliconDust software installed on you new PC. That is a requirement for the OTA guide and non http streaming which is needed for multi-rec.

Yep, it's what Martin said. If you're using an HDHR, you need their full Windows software installed, so that NextPVR can make use of hdhr_config.exe:

There is no magic location NextPVR can download channel icons from when you're using the DVB EPG.

If you can find icons somewhere on the internet that match your channels, you can save them to C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\media\channels, at NextPVR will use them. The image names just need to match the names of your channels.

For the icons check this post https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/UK-Channel-Icons plus the thread in the sticky.

I also have a utility that downloads the XMLTV listing for HDHR users and using it NextPVR will download your icons and then you can switch to OTA. The guide for non SiliconDust DVR users is only 24 hours, their subscribers get 2 weeks.

Thanks for all of the very prompt and helpful replies, much appreciated.

Martin was spot on with identifying the cause.

The Win10 PC that NextPVR was working fully on has been running HDHomeRun for several years, and so had been fully installed long before I discovered NextPVR, so it did indeed have all the HDHomeRun drivers etc..

Whereas on my new Win 11 PC I'd only installed the HDHomeRun "App" instead.  This was running the HDHomerun viewing interface fine.

Now it gets a bit complicated..... so I hope my somewhat fuddled brain can explain things clearly !

I installed the HDHomeRun software, and the listing did then appear ok in NextPVR, but now the HDHomeRun viewing app has become unusable.  Instead of the right hand side vertical column of channel/prog screenshots, there is a jumbled selection of text dotted around thge screen, like an HTML page not displaying correctly, with jumbled text visible on top of the live TV image.

I thought it was maybe confused because of the order in which I'd installed things, so I went back to square one by uninstalling everything (HDHomeRun and NextPVR), and then reinstalled with HDHomeRun first, then nextPVR.

I still had the problem with the HDHomeRun viewer not displaying correctly, but NextPVR had a fully popluated EPG guide, which I could click on and get the channel.

I then rebooted, and now although the "N" icon in my taskbar is green, my web app EPG guide and Channels are blank, not even showing "no listings" , although the channels are all present and ticked in the channels setup screen).

To complicate matters even further  Sad , in the NextPVR desktop app, the EPG guide is fully populated, but when I click on one to view "live", the app freezes.

I've attached my logs again,  thanks for all your help with this.

To start you don't have the LAV 32 bit decoder installed. Installing a decoder has always been a requirement and I am surprised a forum or wiki search didn't show you that we recommend LAV.

The web app being browser based my simply require a ctrl-f5 browser refresh. Users often forget it is a web app.

I tried ctrl-f5 Martin, but it had no effect.

I'll look for the LAV 32 bit decoder, but I can't understand why everything was fully working before I rebooted. I had been able to see the fully populated EPG guide, and watch any of the channels live, with no problems. I could also view anything I'd recorded, in the 'ts formats.

I'm thinking that it may be something to do with my HDHomerun setup now, because that is now so confused with the way it displays just the live channel, with the jumble of text and images, and yet on all of the other PCs on my network it's still working correctly.

The plot thickens......   Smile

I've found why the EPG guide was blank, and now the wholeof NextPVR is working 100%, (whoopee).

After I had run the HDHomerun full installation (for the first time on this new Win 11  PC), when I looked at the devices page of NextPVR it was showing up twice, ( or four times if you take into account that it's a twin tuner device).  I've attached a screendump, showing that it was listed as "silicondust HDHomeRun Tuner xxxx" and also as "HDHomeRun xxxx".

I had the channels scanned and set via HDHomeRun on the "SiliconDust" devices, which were not showing up in NextPVR.  So I moved the "HDHomeRun" devices to the top of the list and scanned the channels on them, via NextPVR.

It's now working perfectly, with a full EPG guide, which can then be clicked to the context options for that prog, (eg watch now).

My only remaining problem is the strange jumbled layout in the HDHomeRun app, which I've also attached a screendump of.  It displays the other channel thumbnails as a mixture of images and plain black text, like an HTML page in a browser that has HTML code errors in it.

Whereas with all of my other networked PCs, it displays correctly, with a neat row of channel images down the right hand side that can be clicked to switch channel or show further info or the next prog.  Even stranger, that was working ok on this Win 11 PC, when I was just running the Win 11 "App", and before I installed the full HDHomeRun install program.

I can live with that though, the important things was to get NextPVR up and running for recording (and via its EPG) , which it's now doing fine

An amazing program, so much simpler to install and use than all of the competition, what little there now is.

I've also attached the log file, in case it's interesting to view now that it's working 100%.

Thanks again for everyone's help on this, much appreciated.
