I'm building a new server for NextPVR recording UK Freeview (terrestrial). So far the Hauppauge WinTV quadHD PCIe internal card looks like a good choice though there are various external/USB boxes available. To be honest I'd prefer an internal card rather than a bunch of USB devices hanging off the back. Any alternatives to the Hauppauge carfd out there?

Cheers,
Brian

If you are still looking at Linux check for kernel support too. Not sure all the Hauppauge kinks have been worked out https://github.com/b-rad-NDi/Ubuntu-medi...der/issues

Definitely Linux Martin. I'd seen mixed reports of the QuadHD card and the buglist possibly confirms it. I'm still deciding on mobo, processor, ram and hdd to get but that's fairly easy. I'm going to order 2 or 3 Android boxes from Amazon to try. Five weeks until our Virgin Media contract runs out so I've got a bit of time. Just the tuner options really.

Cheers,
Brian

The TBS6205 DVB-T2/T/C Quad TV Tuner PCIe Card works well for me although I can't confirm how well it performs with Linux as I'm using Windows.
I do know it has Linux drivers.

The TBS drivers are not in the Linux kernel so the drivers have to be compiled and installed.

Some TBS drivers don't work on Windows l know sub has a TBS 5520 that fails.

Thanks Bobins, I can't seem to find a source of those except eBay (used)

Martin - I've ordered a WinTV-quadHD which I'm going to try in my desktop (running Deb 11.x). NextPVR seems to have installed fine on that and WebUI is working so I just need a source to try it out. I'll be ordering a new setup this weekend and stick Deb 12.x on that. I'll report back on kernel / drivers when I've tried things out.

Brian

If drivers aren't in the kernel note the b-rad does his work on Ubuntu not Debain That is definitely and issue for the newest Hauppauge Nova tuners on Linux.

Thanks Martin. If it comes down to it and Deb doesn't work I'll put Ubuntu on the new server once I've got the parts.

I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV Dual HD without issue. It's USB though.
https://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products/data_dualhd.html
https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/H...nTV-dualHD
I can confirm that both tuners are detected in both Windows and Linux (Raspberry Pi OS).
Linux just requires the correct firmware to be downloaded and dropped into /lib/firmware/

Thanks. I went with the quadHD PCIe card and it seems to be a good choice. Finding the right firmware took a bit of work but it's been sitting in my desktop the past couple of weeks working fine.

Cheers,
Brian
