I tried that, and re-ran tuning assist. Still just blasts static w/ a perfectly good picture. It looks like in Win2k, there's no audio at the default setting, but even when I tune it there, freqcopy can't carry it over.

Go here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune

Remove all values under keys labeled TS0-0, etc...

You might want to export that section of the registry just for safety, but I've always found that if anything is actually in there, it means problems...

I am experiencing "missing audio" for channels ranging from 13 to 20.

I can fine-tune them perfectly fine with WinTv2000, but have not been able to get any sound in GBPVR for these channels.

I have tried using FreqCopy, but it has not helped either.

I have been discussing this common PVR150 occurrance with Hauppauge.

Can you please post the exact Model and Rev of your capture device? Its printed on the tuner label on the board. Can you also tell me which country you have configured you capture source for, and whether you have selected Cable/Antenna?

Hopefully this info will help Hauppauge get to the bottom of it.

Same problem here with my 150.

Cable 15, and 17-21 are no audio but clear picture, and all other channels work fine.

I'll post the card info once I get around to pulling it from the pc it's installed on. Everything else about GB-PVR works great.. but this is keeping me from adopting it as my full-time PVR system. How's the progress? Any chance of a fix in the near future?

edit:
-tried fine tuning, no change
-tried freqcopy utility, no change
-tried channels in WINTV, all work fine w/ audio. So it's not a bad card.

I've posted this same message to about a dozen threads that mentioned the same PVR150 error, I've only had one reply. I'm not going to go back to Hauppauge until I have more information to give them. My view is, if people dont want to help fix the bug, it can stay broken.

Hauppauge think it sounds like bug in their PVR150 drivers. It doesnt affect other cards.

It only affects a subset of PVR150. I suspect these are all using a particular model of tuner. Maybe also limited to NTSC users (ie a specific model of NTSC tuner).

More information for you:

Local:
Canada/Rogers Cable
Cable channels 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 have no audio in GB-PVR
All channels have audio in WINTV
All channels have good video under both systems

Tuner:
NTSC/NTSC-J
Made in Malaysia
26032
REV C199

System:
Windows 2000 / All Service Packs
Using latest 150 drivers from their website: 2.0.35.23258 (also tried with stock shipped drivers) (Different drivers = no change.)

If there's anything at all I can do or any other information that would be of use to you, please let me know. I really like the PVR package and just need to get over this one minor problem! Smile

Thanks!

Cheers.

I've added this to the list I'm compiling. Both PVR150's causing problems are NTSC REV C199. It'll be interesting to see if this trend continues (assuming others provide me feedback).

One last thing of interest..

Tried installing sageTV to see if it has the same issues, and it does! Same channels have no audio, while everything else still works fine. Definately looking like a driver issue, since WINTV is still merrily working fine.

Unfortunately this means that I'm quickly running out of alternatives if it takes a while to get this fixed in GB-PVR. Smile

Ok, one more thing for now, until we hear back from Hauppauge.

Is there any sense in trying to fine tune the frequency for a channel by hand to try and get audio working?

I'll try to get my thoughts together here, if for no other reason than to have something for others to search for.

-WinTV gets the correct channel frequencies
-WinTV stores them in the registry somewhere.
-We know these values tune channels correctly for everyone having trouble.
-FreqCopy copies them here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune
-GB-PVR doesn't seem to use these values anymore. (confirm, anyone?)

So, questions:
-Is there any point in finding the WinTV values in the registry, exporting them to a file, and manually typing in the frequencies for the affected channels in the channel mapping page of GB-PVR's config utility?
-Is that the only way to force GB-PVR to use a different frequency?
-While I'm asking questions, is ther any way to get a frequency from within WinTV or must I dig into the registry to locate it?

I just want to make sure I've tried everything before I give up.
