I haven't tried mine yet but I just installed an interesting video capture device https://www.ebay.com/itm/376785020315 with 4 x HDMI hardware encoding ports at a great price.  Probably came from a failed IPTV distributor so who know how much life it has.

What it really cool is how NextPVR finds it as a DVB-S device It identifies itself to Window (BDA) and Linux (/dev/dvb).

Yeah, that is very weird.

Is it an encoder device? If so, I guess they could fake it being a DVB-S device...though totally bonkers.

Yes it is a encoder with 4 HDMI inputs so I have to use the Diseqc 4x switch. One trouble is I can't set the LCN iinfo with their utility for the scan so NextPVR doesn't fine any channels. Another is I might need to find a cable to provide power to this.

I have been able to get it working on Linux and Windows and it is working almost as I expected.  Here is 4k HEVC 60fps capture from an Android box, first device I had that could do that.  The NextPVR web interface isn't how I'd play it but you get the idea. Now I just need to find a device that can capture Altmos.

Can you please give a high level overview of use once setup/configured? What device is controlling source? Is record/view a single select via Npvr thru the new hdmi capture device or controlled via hdmi source device(s) or a multi-step setup or other?

First NextPVR needs to be enhanced to allow calling a pre-tuning script like it does with Extras and HDPVR tuners on Windows so it is not a perfect solution. If that gets implemented and I have it identified as a wishlist item I will write up more but the high level is as shown in post #1 the device shows up as a 4 digital tuning devices in which you scan for channels like any other digital device.
