When I include a .srt file for subtitles, I first get this error message: 'DirectVobSub: IPersistStream is no longer supported", it's title is 'vsfilter'. The subtitles do work when I click 'OK'. If I use Windows Media Player, the subtitles work without giving the error.

Any idea what could cause this error message?

No, but I also dont know what an srt file is, or have any direct support for it. I'm out of town at a conference at the moment, but remind me in a week when I get back, and I'll take a look.

An srt file is SubRip's format of a subtitle file (just plain text), which VobSub will automatically show when a file named <movie-filename>.srt exists in the same path. As far as I know, it uses the DirectShow filter.

You could try it yourself by downloading a srt file from a site like divxsubtitles.net; it doesn't matter with which movie file you use the subtitle file to test it, just name it correctly.
