I am just getting started with my MVP. I am hoping someone here can tell me if this is possible.

I have begun ripping all of my DVDs to MPEG2 files. I HATE the default MVP interface, which brought me to GBPVR.

Is it possible to use GBPVR as a backend media server for the MVP? I currently have no wants for PVR-ing live TV shows. Is it possible to only display "Video Library" button on the main menu instead of all the other options? I also want to use the Video Archive plug in as that is EXACTLY what I would like to see.

Here are the stats for my media server:

P4 2.53 GHz CPU
1 GB RAM

Any help, advice would be appreciated.

I haven't done it, but I think you can disable all the plugin's and just leave only one. Sounds strange when It can do so much more but hey why not.

Just go to the plugin tab on the config app and uncheck all the plugins you don't want to appear on your GBPvr and the MVP.

Your recordings are in Mpeg2 format right? It should work fine.
GBPVR Server:
AMD Sempron 3300+, 1gb DDR, 100, 200 & 500gb HDDs, DVD -/+RW PVR150 RETAIL, PVR150MCE.
GBPVR 1.0.16, SKIN'S = Default Blue, PLUGIN'S = None

Just curious what you are using for DVD ripping? I am trying to do the same and have had some issues finding a good program that will rip vob files to 2 channel audio that the MVP can play.

Also I have tried disabling the 'other' categories. It does work n the Config program. Keep in mind, some of the plugins only show up on the PC rather than the MVP (DVD for example). Although, you would be using the Video plgin instead. -A

I am using a program called "VideoVault" and DVD43. All I have to do is put the DVD in the drive and it rips it to a MPEG2 file. Simple as that. I know there are other ways to do it, but this is what works for me. If anyone has any other suggestions, fell free to chime in.

Actually, the VideoArchive plugin has DVD2MPEG and can do this automatically for you. It also searches the web for the appropriate poster and description for the ripped DVD. Works very well and lessens the workload and very much integrated with GBPVR. It uses DVD Decrypter, BeSweet and MPLEX.
