I use gbpvr alot...
I just upgraded my cpu and everything worked fine.
I ran gbpvr once for about half an hour before closing it.
I rebooted and now I am unable to start it.
It comes up with the following:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application."
It pops up twice before closing.
This occures on the gbpvr, config, system tray prog., and the services prog.
But there are no errors in anything else.
I have reinstalled gbpvr as well as .net 2.0 to no avail.

I would appreciate any help...

Thanks,
SWR_DMaster

I know it's not hardware...but here are my specs anyways:
Win XP Pro
AMD Athlon XP 2100+ running at a 1500+ (bios needs adjusted...)
768MB SDRam, NVidia 6200 256MB, ATI Theater Elite 550

you need .net 1.1 not .net 2.0

OK, I have reinstalled .net 1.1.
It still comes up with the same error.
I don't know what changed to cause it to stop working.
I did try the 3d environment Tactile 3d. After a minute it crashed on me.
Other than that I have no ideas.

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application."

This looks to me like an Hardware Error. You should test your Memory/Harddisk for proper working.

I have an idea.
Back when I had a Personal Cenima I belive gbpvr had the same error.
When I finaly found anything relating to the error the best responce I found
was that a driver for a pci or agp device was probably corrupt or missing.
The driver for my video card IS GOOD. Just upgraded to the latest.
But I belive the computer might have "lost" or "forgot about" my tuner card.
I am going to reinstall some drivers tommorrow.

And I'm curious; does this error appear on boxes without tuners installed in them?

Also strange is the software Prime95 is locking up on the torture test and benchmarks.
Not even into the test, just within a 10 to 15 seconds in.
The software S&M is also doing the same. Locked on test 4.
Although I'm doubting that my NEW cpu is the problem...
I also need to find time to rescan my mem again...

Thanks,

AMD Athlon XP 2100+ (1733 MHz FINALLY)

So you have had to do some tweaking to reach the default speed?

If prime is failing, it sounds like it IS hardware related.

Perhaps you need to increase the cpu and/or ram voltage a tiny bit and then retest with S&M/prime.

or try retesting with only 1 stick of ram
can you not run

I have deduced that it is not hardware.
I ran memtest overnight, about 7 passes. No probs.
But a simple program, StopClock or StopWatch, was giving the same error.
I had an idea. I opened .NET and made a simple program.
It compiled but it wouldn't run. It gave the same error.
So I believe it either has something to do with .NET directly or
something close to that effect.

I am going uninstall and reinstall .NET completely, both 1.1 and/or 2.0.
Then reinstall everything.
It is now a priority for me...
I have a program due Thursday in VB.NET...
And Monday is the only time I can SQUEEZE it in...
I KNOW how to program VB.NET, I just need the school to state it as well...Wink

Any other ideas, please speak up...

Thanks,
SWR_DMaster

PS.
The cpu clock finally getting to 1733MHz.
The people who make my MB stated to just slap in the chip and let autodetect.
I did... 1333MHz. Turns out there was a shorting pin that needed
shorted to get it up to 133 FSB instead of 100.
Shorted it and it works great now.

Oh, I also reinstalled the TV card drivers. Their catalyst software works.
If you call that work...lol... So the card and drivers weren't the problem.

As for Prime and S&M etc. I hope .NET fixes them...Doubtfull though...

Well, I uninstalled .Net 1.1 and 2.0...
Then spent all day getting 1.1 to reinstall.
Thanks to Astebner's blog, I downloaded Debbuging tools for windows.
I got .net installed but still have the same error.
I am includeing dumps of what the debbuging tool says for each of the following:
GBPVR
Config
RecordingService
SystemTrayIcon
and a program called StopWatch.

Sorry but none of that means much to me.

Given you're the only person have this problem, I'd say your XP installation is somehow "broken". Your easiest fix is probably to bite the bullet and reinstall XP - take the opportunity to format the hard driver while you're at it.

in your original thread you said

"I just upgraded my cpu and everything worked fine."

and then

"I know it's not hardware...but here are my specs anyways:"

are you saying that these problems only happened after upgrading the cpu? i.e. gbpvr worked fine before you upgraded it?

If so, why look for software problems?

memtest will not stress your cpu.

run a full S&M test to confirm that it runs ok.

Neither Prime nor S&M are .NET apps, so hacking around with .NET is not going to fix them. If these programs do not complete, you still have a hardware (CPU) problem.

As mvandere said, make sure you install the most recent VAI 4 in 1 drivers either during the XP install or immediately after completeing the install. I have known old VIA (133) chipsets to "kind of work" without the 4 in 1 drivers but then produce very strange errors, such as apps failing to install. It is to do with control of the southbridge I think.
