Sub,

The new release looks great as always. One thing...

Any reason why now when I watch Live TV, I get a brief studder every 5 or 6 seconds?

Its almost un-noticeable to my wife, but it drives me up the wall. Would something like that show up in the logs?

Other than that, this version looks and feels great!

Thanks!

I think I notice that too. Mine seems to do it sometimes, but sometimes not. When it does do it, though, it is just as he described: about every 5 - 6 seconds and hardly noticeable. It seems like a slight jerk. As if a frame was dropped or maybe it backed up a frame or something like that.

I wonder if this related to the "next recording" widget I have seen earlier .... ?

Two possible solutions are as follows, depending on whether you watch via an MVP only, or on (or via) the PC, but with an MVP running simultaneously.

1. You watch via an MVP only. You need to go into the gbpvr directory

C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin\Blue\main menu\skin.xml and look for
Look for the special element panel "NextRecording" and set visible to false.

SpecialElement name="Panel" panelName="NextRecording" visible="true"

2. You watch on the PC but with an MVP running at the same time.

Solution: Turn off the MVP.

Suggest you read the whole of each thread too!

3. There are other suggestions such as this one:
  • Force gbpvr recording service to high priority in config.xml in the gbpvr directory. Make sure this is True.
  • To do this edit C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\config.xml
  • Look for <ForceHighPriorityRecordingService>True</ForceHighPriorityRecordingService>
Hope that fixes it ... not sure, but let us know how you get on. It might be something completely different.

My is studdering and I don't know about the video studdering, but it's the audio and it's noticeable. I thought I was alone and was going to post until I searched around to see if anybody else is having the same problem.
I have to say it's mostly audio for me

Can't help you, but I've got the same problem with the new release. I've made no other changes that I'm aware of... It is every 6 seconds EXACTLY on my machine. I timed it with a ticking clock behind me and it was literally every 6 seconds on the button.

I've tried changing renderers (VMR9 and VMR Custom), tried upping/lowering the livetv pre-play delay, disabled antivirus, changed resolutions, rebooted, always the same.

This problem does not exist when watching recorded video, just on live tv. I'm using SQL lite. Sub, any help?

Doesnt ring any bells for me. Zip and attach your logs though, and I'll see if I can see anything obvious.

Sorry this took so long...
Here's the logs. I deleted the ones that were not locked so you'd have less to look through. What you're looking at is :

I opened GBPVR, went directly to LiveTV. Changed channels a few times (trying to find CNN with a scrolling ticker that's easy to see the dropped frames) and watched it for a couple minutes. Escaped liveTV and exited GBPVR.

Hope there's something useful in there, it DEFINITELY still skips every 6 seconds, on the money. Thanks!

There is nothing obvious in the logs. If you bring up Windows perfmon and monitor the CPU usage for GBPVR.exe and GBPVRRecordingService.exe, do either of these processes generate a CPU spike at the time you're seeing this behaviour?

Yes, I would say there is a spike in GBPVR.exe every six seconds. I can't turn on a X axis scale, but I've added blue dots where I noticed the skip. Each one seems to correspond to a peak. See what you think...
