Hey all,

I'm transcoding all successful recordings to ipod format, and so far it's working great.

I was wondering though if there was a way I could modify the the IPOD transcoding settings. I'd like to try and increase the quality a bit, as I'm not to worried about conserving drive space on the video ipod.

Is there a way to do this?

i think you need to edit this line in the config.xml file - but im not sure what you need to edit exactly.

<Conversion name="Video Ipod" cmd="-y -i {SOURCE_FILE} -title {TITLE_SUBTITLE} -f mp4 -vcodec mpeg4 -s 320x240 -r 15 {DEST_FILE}" targetExtension=".mp4" />

You might want to do some studying here: http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/ffmpeg-doc.html
Good luck.Smile

Edit: maybe this parameter would help:
`-sameq' Use same video quality as source (implies VBR).

Thank you both, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Did a few tweaks based on some other configs I've seen, and now I'm real happy with the results.

add a -b xxxx for the bitrate...i think it's only 800 by default if none specified...
i personally use -qscale X.X as it keeps constant quality and varies bitrate..

[play with the values for your taste, -qscale 3 is high quality,really drops off quality around 10+..but may be able to use higher...]
