Remote Controller with HVR 1600

Hi,

I have tried all Wiki suggestions and have played around myself with the settings but i am unable make the remote changer work with GBPVR. It works fine with WinTV.

I've never even seen an HVR1600, and dont know what type of remote it comes with. This is probably one you guys are going to have to nut out yourselves. I'd probably start by looking in the Hauppauge irremote.ini file though.

Physically, it's the same as the blaster used by the PVR150s with the 45 key remote control. They didn't send the accessories with the beta test version I received so have been unable to test it's functions. There was at least one other thread mentioning the remote so you might want to look through the other HVR1600 posts or anything mentioning the new "Hybrid" WinTV2k application. (which would be different than the previous WinTV2k)

update: so i have been able to make it work with basic settings (e.g. channel change, volume, guide buttons) but not the power and other settings. This is the way i got it: Config > Sources > Edit > Changer > .exe executable > Select Ir.exe from WinTv folder.

That sounds really wrong. Ir.exe is not used for controlling an IR Blaster.

The channel changer setting in you capture source is only needed if you're trying to control an external cable/satellite set top box via an IR Blaster.

If I read correctly, you're just trying to use the remote control to control GB-PVR. For this you dont need any specific settings in GB-PVR, but usually need to click the 'fix hauppauge remote settings' button once in the config app, which in turn adds a few settings to the Hauppauge irremote.ini file.

If you're trying to use a Hauppauge IR Blaster (like that included with the PVR150), then you'd configure the correct type of set top box in the Hauppauge BlastCfg app, then configure youre capture source to use the '.exe channel changer' and point it at c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\HaupBlast.exe.

I too have had endless problems with the HVR remote. I used to have a PVR 250 and PVR 500 with the 250's remote working fine. Now I have the HVR and no matter what second car I install, the remote quits working. I'm waiting to here back from Hauppauge's technical support.

As for just getting the HVR to work alone, I did have to move it to a different PCI slot, the first slot I chose didn't recognize the remote, the card worked fine.

The HVR seems to be a great little card, but they definitely have something going on with configuring there remotes.

I had the same problem, but I was able to fix it by uninstalling the whole set up then reinstalling everything for hauppauge from their website. Then apply the updates from config for the 45 button remote and viola... it works. Don't ask me why... but for now it's working. I love my card, but it doesn't seem capable of handlying 1080i at this point.... could be my graphics card, but we'll see.

Can anyone tell me if you need the remote codes? I know in Mythtv you need remote codes for your set top box (satellite or cable box).

For e.g., if you use a SA Explorer box, most of the codes are 78 but this is for the pvr 150. I'm wondering if it is still 78 for the HVR 1600 because I am thinking of getting one if I upgrade to the SA 3250HD and most of the codes are 78 but I don't know if it applies to the HD version of the 3250.

For gbpvr, do you need to do anything with codes?

No, this is all taken care of in the Hauppauge IR software.
