This was brought up tangentially in a separate thread as I thought is was an upgrade issue, but since that time I did a clean install of Vista and decided it was worth getting it's own.

I'm unable to get GB-PVR to tune/find ATSC HD channels. The same rig worked flawlessly under XP, but with Vista I can only get Analog stations will GB-PVR. I can use Windows Media Center to find and display HD (ATSC) without issue, however, so it must be (:confusedSmile something with GB-PVR?

In any case, I'm just seeking some insight from those that have a similar setup and if they got HD working within GB-PVR, using the HVR-1600 under Vista.

My Gear:
- 3.0 Ghz, 1MB RAM
- ATI AIW x800 (listed as ATI x800 XT in Vista, using Vista driver)
- Hauppauge HRV-1600

My Installs:
- GB-PVR (duh)
- HVR-1600 Drivers (HcwDriverInstall.exe)
- HVR-1600 Filters (hwcSMD07.exe)
- ATI Decoder
- CyberLink MPEG Muxer (MpgMux_5.0.0.727_.ax)

Everthing else is pretty much out of the box. No problem with HD using Windows Media Center. Anyone have this working? Please provide some detail if you do! Thanks!

Guys,

THANK YOU! I've just stated scanning and have begun to picked up channels already!
I was using the nativeutilities.dll from the survival guide, but I never saw the thread references above. Awesome! I'm now 100% up and running in Vista.

Thanks again! Smile
(and here I was thinking I'd get flamed for a similar posting :o )

I find this string confusing. whurlston references a post. When I go to the post I don't see the attachment anymore.

I'm trying to configure an HVR-1600 in Vista SP1. My HVR-1600 driver is dated 1/28/2008. I running GBPVR10213. I just did a uninstall, deleted everything and a re-install. I confirmed the HVR-1600 can receive QAM using the WinTV software.

In GBPVR, I configured HVR-1600 QAM. I do the scan and it finishes okay. Then when I'm going through the list of channels when I appear to find a valid channel I get one second of audio and then the whole computer freezes.

Is there a Patch to get the HVR-1600 QAM working in Vista SP1? Are others getting this working?

The patch was for a previous version of GBPVR and is now incorporated with later releases. It also solved a different issue than the one you are experiencing. Your issue is probably due to the combination of decoders you are using. Try downloading the following decoders and/or AC3Filter:

I have the AC3 filters installed, I also see that Hauppauge installed its own set of coders. I've tried a lot of combinations. Normally coder errors give me no screen or no audio, not the application dropping dead, but I'm not expert.

I'm getting something much more serious. Sometimes I get an Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt." If I click details I get the following:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I've got an HVR 1600 with SP1 running fine. Even if the scan works this survival guide patch might help

Thanks for the reply. I have tried that patch. What are you using for your Video and Audio Codec?
