Problems upgrading

I upgraded from 98.08 (I think) to 99.12 and have some problems after the install.

Pending recordings are missing. Can't get to TV Guide or Live TV - Get "No Channels have been set up...." message. I've updated the EPG, even removed and re-added, but still get the message. Also when clicking on Recordings, get "Error: The Type Initializer for 'System.data.OLEdb.OLEdbConnection' threw an exception."

Any help would be appreciated in resolving.

How big is your gbpvr.mdb file?

Sorry, I missed you reply.

Its not the problem I was thinking of, which can occur with massive .MDB files (2GB etc).

It might be worth trying to switch to the (now default) SQLite database, by running the ChangeDatabase utility.

I suspect it was a bad config.xml file??

I did a complete uninstall, deleted the directory, but made backups of config.xml and gbpvr.mdb. Reinstalled and it was not giving me any errors. Tried pulling over the old config.xml file and it gave the error again. I just ended up setting everything up again, moved my few recordings over to my Video Library directory, and everything is working again. I also noticed that I had both .Net 1.1 and 2.0 installed and so I uninstalled 1.1.

Good 'nuf. It also got rid of an error I was getting for a while on exit.

Great, though its still probably a good idea to run ChangeDatabase at some point to switch over to the SQLite database - it avoids a few problems known to happen with the older .mdb database. It's been the default for all new installs for the last 9 months or so.
