This is by no means a major issue but I've been ripping my dvd collection and converting them to avi formats. I use DVD decrypter to rip the dvds to a folder. On my test machine I can add that folder to my video library directories list and it will come up as movietitle.dvd. When I select that it will load up as if I actually had the DVD in the drive. On my actually system, if I do this the screen just goes black and nothing happens. I thought it might be because I didn't have daemon tools loaded but thats not the case as it is not on either machine. Any thoughts? I can post the logs tonight if they are needed.

check your machines for differences regarding:
- DVD software installed i.e. PowerDVD vs. WinDVD (vs. none installed?)
gbpvr config:
- DVD renderers/settings?
- different codecs selected/installed

I would take a look at what codecs are being used on the test machine and see if you have the installed on the other. I have not played avi files but I would guess you are missing the codec for them.

Maybe I should clarify a little bit. The problem is when I try and add the VIDEO_TS folder that contains the .vob,.ifo, ect files from the dvd rip. On my test machine it shows up as a .dvd file and when I play it, it loads the dvd menus and all that as if I had inserted the dvd itself. The converted .avi files are only the movie portion of the DVD and plays without any problems on both machines.

do you have some plugin on your test machine for that? i was not aware of GBPVR beeing able to play back VIDEO_TS folders directly. as far as i know it only play DVD's directly either physical or virtual ones via daemon tools...

Oddly enough the only plugin that I had different was the xrecord plugin. I intalled xrecord and it seemed to load the VIDEO_TS folder fine on my PC at work, have not had a chance to load it on the real thing as we have been doing alot of recordings. Will try it out this weekend and see if that does the trick.

No the stock Video library has been able to do this for a while now. And yes also from Daemon tools.

I think if it works or not can depend on how the dvdis ripped. DVDDrecrypter sometimes puts a non standard dvd format down, i.e. it skips the odd file. I've found that sometimes if i dvddecrypt, then try and put it into something like dvdshrink to re-size it, that dvdshrink doesn't like the output from dvddecrypter - unless you extracted the full disk.

When I try to play a DVD from a folder (Movietitle.dvd in video library) in PVRX2, it kicks me back to the main page. VOB files by themselves work fine. I rip the DVD's to my hard drive using DVD43 and DVD Shrink. WinDVD will play them fine, but would like to have the functionality in PVRX2. Any tips on getting this to work? Thanks.

What would be really nice is if we had a special "DVD" portion in GBPVR, with the ability to browse DVD covers or something along those lines.

I've got it to work in my test system and work PC but can't figure out what the connection is as my live PC still only shows a black screen when trying to view the DVD folder. I am using DVDDecrypter to rip the entire DVD using file mode. It may be the DVD that I ripped so I will try to do another one to see if it works.
