I'm a completely newbie here but I recently installed 1.2.9 on my XP system with a hauppauge 1600 hybrid tuner card. It was working fine until I tried to add on the community skin and the skin plugin. Now, everything works, but when I try and playback recorded video it goes to black for 5 seconds and then just returns to the recorded items screen. The recorded stuff plays fine directly thru Windows Media Player. I've tried all the codecs in the system and I'm stumped what do do.

Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, how I can I fix it?

Thanks

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Best to not leave the decoders set to 'System Default'.

Thanks for the quick response. Can you walk me through zipping and attaching the logs.

I'm sorry, like I said, I'm a complete newbie.

I can only see attempts to playback .mp4 files in those logs. Are you converting your recordings to .mp4 files?

I am - I copy some of them to my iPhone or stream it thru Orb.
Could that be causing problems? It was working fine until I added the new skin.

I doubt it was to do with the skin, and is more likely to have been something you've done at around the same time, that either caused the machine's decoders to be changed, or a slight change to the mp4 transcoding settings that need a different decoder.

In the logs it looks like its failing to find an appropriate set of decoders. If it works in WMP, but not GB-PVR, then the most common reason for this is that you're using ffdshow for decoding this type of video. By default new versions of ffdshow are enabled to work in WMP and a few other apps, but not GB-PVR. To resolve this the user typically has to go into the ffdshow configuration and add PVRX2.exe to the list of enabled apps.

I don't want to playback the transcoded versions in GBPVR, I just want those for my portable devices. Should I still use ffdshow for playback, or is there a better a better codec I should try. If I should use ffdshow, how do I reconfigure it to work with GBPVR?
