Version .7 on the wiki reads the metadata - skips IMDB lookups if there is metadata.

VidImport recurses a directory searching for video files (.mpeg, .mpg, .avi. .mpv, .ts, .mp4, dvr-ms) and creates an xml file that gbpvr can import on the config/plugin tab, this will allow the videos to show on the recordings tab. It recurses all the way to the lowest level so nested directories are acceptable. It tries to intelligently use the directory name and any filename similarities to create the titles and subtitles so files are grouped in a useful manner by GBPVR/PVRx2.
Vidimport will look for a hidden GBPVR metadata file. If this exists it will use the description, title and other information found within. Vidimport will also make an attempt at an IMDB lookup for a description if it is set to on.
Finally if you use the xlmin= switch and supply an export of the gbpvr recordings it will read that file in and use it to avoid creating duplicate recordings.

Version .8 greatly improves the detection of series syntax. If there are multiple similar files with filenames having s01e01 01e01 s01x01 01x01 or even 101 between _ _, - -, or . . it will assumes it is part of a series and create the import file so they will be together on the recordings page.

It is command line driven at this point -

vidImport.exe ‹top directory> <outfile> <imdb=on|off› <xmlin=“gbpvr recordings export file”>

I suppose I could make it drag and drop - it has a default out file but its probably to a directory specific to my machine. imdb defaults to on and with no xmlin arg it would skip that step as well.

Does the metadata.xml file go with the recorded file if the recorded file is moved?
I have a folder with 5 or 6 CSI episodes, all recorded with GB-PVR, but some seem to have metadata and some don't.

Metadata should move with the file.

Try: notepad filename:metadata.xml to see if the metadata exists with the file.

OK, as expected, some had the metadata.xml streams, others didn't.
Not really sure what to make of it. Will pay attention to how I move files around and see if I can nail down how the XML part gets striped.
Thanks

Improves default settings plus automatically runs the pvrx2 import command so that you can drag and drop a directory or file onto it and have the files imported automatically into the GBPVR recordings database (with IMDB lookup for non-gbpvr files).
