I am still amazed that I can record and playback H264 HD satellite in GBPVR - when no Freesat PVR's are available yet.
(I know Sky+HD, & V+ subscribers can record, but even then there is no ITV HD)

The quality is great - only issue is the title subject. I have to watch the recording all the way through. Or, stop playing and later resume seems to work.
If I do pause or ff or rw, playback just locks-up until 'stop' is pressed, then it does go back to the menu.

Not a major hassle - but in case it helps I have uploaded a 5-minute sample of a ITV HD recording: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FBA5338C

Because this is a ITV HD sample, to play it you need this patch from Sub:

I downloaded the file, and I can skip about in the file just fine.

Are you able to skip back/forward in the file with Ctrl-Right/Ctrl-Left? This seems to work 100% here with that file.

Oh I just tried Ctrl-Left & Right, and after a long pause of 25 secs or more it does start to play again, but with no audio until after another 25 seconds or so, when audio returned.
So looks like I was just not being patient enough, as I never waited this long before.

Because I am using software-only decoding using CoreAVC, my CPU usage averages 70% playing these files - so I guess this is the problem, rather than any issue with GBPVR...

Makes the purchase of an Nvidia card more tempting...

Thats odd. Here its pretty much instant.

In this test machine I've got a ATI HD 2600 Pro, and the filters used are:

It might be worth trying to replicate it with these same decoders to see if things improve.

Thank you. At present, my filters used are:

I will try the same decoders, but have had lots of problems with hard acceleration on my 780g chipset so was not going to try that again...but I guess the PowerDVD decoder may work better in software than CoreAVC, but I doubt it!

OK the audio decoder (AC3filter or Purevideo) made no difference.

But using CyberLink H.264/AVC video Decoder did - even without any DXVA acceleration. Much quicker play, with sound, after RW or FF. Pause however still dodgy, play only resuming if RW or FF pressed.

Did note that initial start of play takes longer with Cyberlink.

So seems that Cyberlink decoder is much better at seeking within the .ts file.
Suprisingly, CPU overhead was lower than CoreAVC - which may be the reason for the imroved behaviour.
Seems CoreAVC is not the least demanding software decoder, for .ts files anyway...
