Hi, I have an analog/digital hybrid card (hauppage hvr2200). Digital Live TV is fine at the moment. On the Analog side I'm tuned into 2 channels, Triangle TV and Prime. I can watch Tri TV fine, and I used to be able to watch Prime ok too.

Now when I go to the TV Guide, click Prime, when I select watch, the next screen comes up (blank) then immediately drops back to the TV Guide. It's been doing this for a couple of days now. I haven't knowingly changed anything in the setup in the last few days. Where do I start looking as to the cause of this? (Nothing obvious jumped out and hit me when I looked at the logs).

Thanks, Phil

Hi Sub, things seem to have melted down somewhat. Was watching tv1 ac3 for hours last night, then checked tri tv - still going ok. Then went back to the tv guide and select Prime. But when I did that my whole system froze (no mouse, kb/ctrl-alt-del) - no blue screen either, just a total freeze. New PC, first time that's happened. Switched PC off & went to bed.
This morning when I turned it on, cleared logs folder, started pvrx2, tried going to Prime, then copies logs folder (see logs-prime.zip). But then I noticed the same thing is now happening for all channels (both analog & digital). None of the channels work any more. Sad
I exited and cleared logs again, tried going to tv1 (ac3) and then alt-F4'd - see also logs logs-tv1.zip.

Thanks, Phil

In that particular log it never got as far as trying to use the device. It tried to connect to the recording service, but it either wasnt running, or you have some firewall getting in the way of communication.

Quote:2008-08-25 08:51:21.390 ERROR [1] Unexpected error: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

If that was just a mistake, you might need to try again to reproduce the problem and repost the logs.

Heh. well not sure what's going on there... after booting up it looked like gbpvr was down there in the tasktray... maybe I need to check that the service isn't being blocked, but I don't know why that'd be happening now.
Anyway, will have to wait until tonite...

Its worth noting that the tray icon has nothing to do with the recording service. It can be there and visible even when the recording service isnt running.

I'm embarrassed to say that this morning in my haste to get the logs, I didn't have everything running. Oops, sorry.
Anyway, I just got back to trying Prime - this time it came up but froze after a couple of seconds. The same thing happened with TriTV.

I restarted everything with the latest epg, and now it's working!! I don't know why... but one thing I had done with the previous epg (downloaded with djkxml) was that I'd chosen a couple of sky channels that I don't actually have (just for interests sake to see what was on). The channels seemed to appear in the gbpvr config, so I deleted them (a few days ago) but still had the old epg. Could the channels & epg have somehow got out of sync to create the problems I was having...?

Hi Sub, I'm afraid the problem with Prime (analog) is back - I go from the tv guide to try to view it but as soon as the screen changes to black, it drops straight back to the tv guide. I can see TriTV (analog also) still (although the reception isn't great). Could the crappy weather be a factor...? But then I always seem to be able to get TriTV, no matter how bad the picture.

This time I think I did things right ;-) stopped pvrx2, the tasktray util and the gbpvr service. Cleared logs. Started back up the service and pvrx2, recreated the error, then stopped it all again. I'm attaching the logs here.

Cheers, Phil

It looks like you have prime enabled in your digital capture source. You need to go in and make sure its only enabled on the analog capture sources.
