Hi Guys,

I was scanning my TV Guide just now and I noticed my highlight disappeared, i tried moving left and right and it would appear and disappear.

I finally found that some of my channels have two shows listed at the same time, the first doesn't show up with a highlight or on the grid but do on the program description below. The show line up is also skewed, it's like Schedules Direct listed two shows at 7pm when one would have been at 7 and one at 8pm.

Example:
Channel 3, KMTV, CBS out of Omaha, NE should be NCIS at 7pm, Without a Trace at 8pm, 48 hours mystery at 9pm, and the news at 10pm

What I'm showing is NCIS not being highlighted or showing up on my grid but it showing up at the bottom in the description area. Pressing the right arrow then shows Without a Trace in the 7pm grid and it's highlighted. Pressing it again shows 48 Hours Mystery at 8pm, and pressing it again shows the news at 9pm.

I just installed EPGExtra last night so I wondered if that was causing a problem, but I went to the config and emptied the guide (and confirmed it was empty) and then reloaded. EPGExtra doesn't run unless you run it manually or it's called from postupdate.bat and postupdate evidently isn't called when updating from the config as the extra info didn't show up in the reloaded guide, but the guide was still showing the screwed up shows. Running the postupdate batch file afterwards restored the extra info.

Soooo, do I take it that this is a Schedules Direct problem and not an issue with my setup?

Schedules Direct seems to have been a bit off lately - I've found a few shows that aren't correct (such as Star Trek Voyager which was supposed to be on Spike in the mornings), but this is the first issue with two shows listed at the same time I've found.

Is this unusual for Schedules Direct or should Ilook for another guide source (there really isn't one here in the US, is there?).

Thanks,

Steve

Do you have 'complete epg reload' ticked on the Capture Sources tab of the config app? You should do.

Do you use the 'schedules direct' epg source, or via the xmltv epg source?

Hi Sub,

Yes, the complete epg reload is ticked and I use the schedules direct epg plugin for each of the tuners.

Start the config app, and hit 'empty epg' in each capture source, then start PVRX2 and make sure there is no listings in the tv guide, then go to the system screen and hit 'update epg'. When it completes, restart the app and check if you still have the same problem. If the problem recurs overnigh with the next epg update, then zip and attach the GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file and I'll take a look.

Hi Sub,

Did that and the problem is still there. I'm pretty sure it's a Schedules Direct data problem.

I'll see how it looks tomorrow and get back with ya if the problem persists.

THANKS!

An update - I've confirmed the problem started at 7pm cst (US). All channels were affected but it was hard to tell as if a program spanned through 7pm I didn't notice it with the highlight on the grid as it would highlight it but looking at the times of that program and the one after it confirmed those channels were affected too.

As it sits, my epg is now one hour off - it's showing all the programs an hour earlier than they actually air at.

I'm wondering if this isn't some daylight savings time bug or something?

My system is set to automatically adjust for daylight savings time and I sync to time.gov. My date and time are correct. The correct time is displayed within GBPVR, but my epg data is not at the right time, it's an hour earlier than it should be.

It's like Schedules Direct switched my time zone at 7pm on saturday 10/25. I logged on to Schedules Direct but there's no place to choose your time zone, I just put in my zip code and stuff and that's it.

Does Schedules Direct do the time zone offset or does it send raw listings and GBPVR does the offset? If so, can we adjust it? What would've caused it to do this?

Anyone else having this problem?

I got some programs I want tomorrow so I'd like to sort this out before I have to setup manual timers for them!

Another update - switching my system time zone to the eastern time zone has fixed my epg.

I imagine this is some daylight savings time bug. I've just reloaded Windows XP Pro and I did install sp3 and do updates the other day, but I wonder if it missed one since the DST rules changed last year.

I'll dig into it further tomorrow - it's late tonight and I gotta work in the morning!

OK, it appears it was a daylight savings time issue. Here in the US they've changed the fall time change but Windows XP was written before the change. They did NOT put the fix for this in service pack 3, why I dunno!

I have auto updates turned on but I went over to windows update to do a manual update and it found several - and one was the day light savings time fix!

I downloaded the updates fine but when I went to install them they all failed! Ohfortheluva  . . . Just then a friend of mine who does IT work stopped by, he said Windows does that all the time and he had a batch file on his key chain flash drive that fixed it and Windows updated fine and once it was updated I was able to set my time zone back to the correct one for my area and set my clock correct. I emptied the programming guide and reloaded and it's all fine now - I can even scan back to 7pm last night and everything is fine! Smile

What an annoying little bug! I still have no idea why it kicked in at 7pm as the time changes over here are normally at 2am.

Whatever, all is good now!

Attached is the batch file my IT friend says normally fixes the update issues. You may not have all the items it's calling so if you get an error message don't worry about it. Also, one of the files took quite a while before it registered correctly. Well, quite a while is actually less than a minute, but the rest did it almost instantly so it makes you think it's hung when it's really not, just be patient.

Hope this helps someone else!
