OK - I reinstalled WinXP SP3 fresh, all patches, .NET, VC runtimes, AC3 filter, WinTV. Fresh install of GBPVR. Appled the CD not stopping playing patch (pvrx2.exe) and the not obeying the LiveTV predelay setting (nativeutilities.dll)

Added one QAM tuner. Did a scan, (amazingly, didn't hang up once) but out of all the channels I can pick up on my Samsung TV, I only got 4 channels to map (and one of them was JewelTV!)

I have about had it with this piece of shit tuner card. I am about to lay into Hauppauge for either my money back or another card - all I have is an expensive, PCI-E analog tuner card!

I am going to do a scan with WinTV to see if I get better luck. Will report back.

Well, went into GBPVR to see how the few QAM channels I mapped looked, and did a total of two channel changes and it locked up like a rock.

I am using the pre-release drivers. Fixing to scan with WinTV to see what it finds and how it changes channels.

And, again, after I kill PVRX2.exe, the status still shows it recording a show I was watching!

I think you and QAM arent compatible. Big Grin It sounds like you're having near zero success, and seem to be going around and around in circles.

Sub - I'm pretty sure NO ONE using one of these cards has has any success with GBPVR.

If anyone has, please speak up!

Sub - I can tell you this for a fact - WinTV picks up dozens more unencrypted channels than GBPVR does. I mean almost every analog channel is available on a digital channel also - there's got to be something in the tuning API that has changed and you (and apparently the MediaPortal and Snapstream folks) aren't aware of it. How do you get informed of driver changes?

I'm researching to see where WinTV places it's channel info, hoping that either QAM channel #s or frequencies are there so that may help you.

And almost all channels come in at 87%+ on the signal strength.

Wish I could report success but can't. Not even in WinTV. Again, only in Vista Media Center.
I have also spent a few hours in XP with little luck. WinTV did pick up a few channels (4) but no sound. For me, I'm not as upset because Cox really doesn't put out as many QAM channels as a number of ISP's but that may change in the near future.

QAM tuning on my HVR-2250 is working fine with 1.3.7 on a Vista Home Premium x64 system. I'm using the v4.7 drivers from the Hauppauge website. Only issue I have with this card is on the analog side which has been discussed in another thread:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=39125

The first time after a reboot, the analog tuner doesn't tune correctly and I get nothing but blue screen. If I cancel the recording or exit out of LiveTV and try it again, then it works fine until the next reboot. Almost wish we had the ability to enable a SubmitTuningRequestTwice for analog to fix this issue. I tried the pre-release drivers and I had more problems with analog.

Who is your cable provider? The fact that WinTV finds SO MANY channels (that are tunable) and GBPVR only finds 4-6 makes me have to believe there is something going on with the parameters being sent to the driver to tune the card - there may be EXTRA parameters that this driver supports over the previous Hauppauge digital cards. I REALLY DON'T to have to use WinTV to watch and record QAM on this card!

Has anyone else tried any other HTPC program with this card (BeyondTV, Sage, Mediaportal, etc)? I'm about to experiment to see what's going on - if no other programs besides WinTV can tune in QAM, then again, that leads me to believe Hauppauge has changed or added something to the tuning strings, that WinTV know about and no other programs do.
