Hello guys,

GBPVR is great, I installed it last week and I love it.
Just one thing thought : I'm a bit frustrated about the application freezing.
First things first, the environment :
-Win2000 Server SP4
-Hauppauge 150
-Geforce 4400 Ti

What I noticed is simple, if I leave the application alone for a several hours and then try to schedule a task, delete a completed task, update a task, all that while a show is recording, then the application freezes.
Only way to resolve the issue : restart the recording service using its tray icon.
> Drawback : the recording that was active restarts and deletes whatever was recorded so far [Image: sad.gif]
(it would be nice to create a backup of the existing file prior to do that)

I looked in the logs, no errors there... I disabled McAfee antivirus on the GBPVR install folder without any luck...

Please help !

Did you try disabling AV on the recordings folders and buffer also?

Ok I'll try do disable it there as well, thanks.

But I really thinks it's more related to either the DB where the tasks are stored or the way it contacts/updates the recording service.

Specialy since the problem can occur while deleting/updating a task not already executed (so I would think that in that there's no interaction with those folders).

Anyway, I'll tell you if this worked soon...

Just in case, keep the ideas coming guys Tongue

ok, it happened again.
I had a scheduled recording of Frontline from 10 to 11 PM running fine.

During the first 30 minutes I was able to delete old shows, add some new schedules, the whole deal ! I was like "wow ! this stuff about the antivirus looks like the solution".

And then bam ! at 10:30 PM, I try to add a "Quick Rec" of SpongeBob occuring at 5 AM the next morning, and it freezes again at the moment I selected the "Quick Rec" button.

The Status of the recording service is "Recording Frontline", and I can see the file size increazing, so the recording is fine... But the GBPVR user interface is not responding at all...

So guys, what to do next ?

ok, so last update :
This time I didn't restart the service and waited for the completion of the recording.

Surprise : once the recording of Frontline was complete then GBPVR was able to respond again...

(I hope that somebody who is reading this thread raises his finger and says "Aha !" right now)

Do you have only one capture card in the box? If so try hitting home on the computer screen and see if it returns a message. I mapped the home key to a key on my remote until this is fixed i was just told it is a bug to be fixed in the next release(screen is black but its still running, and when your recording stops its returns the capture card to you)

My guess.

Cheers!

Yes, only one capture card is installed...

I tried your suggestion of hitting "home", but it didn't work, the application is totally stuck.

The window is not even refreshed, meaning that if I minimize/maximize it, it will display this white, empty window so typical of an application locked somewhere...

This is really disappointing and annoying as it occurs really often during the normal use of the software...

Thanks for your suggestions anyway... Any other ideas ?

popolopopo, schedule a recording to reproduce the problem, then immediately zip and email the logs to me at support@devnz.com and I'll take a look. Dont stop or restart anything before sending the logs. Just leave it stuck until you've zipped and email the logs.
