Help! I can't figure it out ... after hours of playing around. How do I get playback of movies so that it ot doesn't stretch to fit fullscreen ?
All the characters look stretched & thin.
If I play back using media player/VLC/divx or any other video playback software I have no problems. When I play any movie file back in GB-PVR it gets stretched to fullscreen.

Any Ideas ?!

If you using VMR7 or VMR9, then you can press F7 to toggle the aspect ratio mode.

Is it possible to toggle aspect ratio from the remote controll? I have the 45 button Hauppauge.

You'll need to get some very minor programming skills.

Inside c:\windows is irremote.ini. The the bottom of that file are the GB settings. Just change a button to = {f7} (that's from memory, so change if different from similar button code)

That's what I did. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the Red button is assigned as (ctrl)R which is rewind and is already assigned to the rewind button so this is the button I chose to change to (F7) on my 34 button remote

DId you restart the remote? I think you can do from tray. Also make sure it was in the right spot. There are a number of places for the red button to be set for other apps.

Who is this question directed to? I've already got it working and use it all the time. Mostly just wondering if I am going to see problems by having edited this. thanks :o

I've had to do several things to irremote.ini including commenting some things out to keep my philips TV from controlling gbpvr

I had the same problem and with the help of this thread used the <F7> to toggle the aspect. It works. One problem continued though. It wouldn't do the correct widescreen aspect that my movie was recorded in. It came close but the movie was still a bit "squeezed" and thin. Since it appears to be missing the widest aspect ratio, is there a place that we can specify the different aspect ratios to toggle through?

Yes, you can add additional aspect ratios in config.xml

Despite my answer, I personally don't use F7. I have mpeg2 not being handled by ffdshow, and letting nVidia decoder figure out ratio. For everything else (not live or recorded), I have ffdshow handling, and have an image setting set that reacts if the file is *.avi;*.mpg;*.ogm. If it is one of those, if uses the resize & aspect filter to resize the file to 800 x 600, resze always, and keep original aspect.
