Video Library Playback Problem

First, after searching high and low, I came across GBPVR. I love it. It's the only software that supported my Adaptec VideOH USB device. I'm very happy so far. Keep up the good work. I'm amazed that one person was capable of putting this together.

I've been using GBPVR since version 13? Installed every update. I've had small problems, but always found a fix. I currently have a problem with v16. I can playback recorded videos....no problem(fullscreen). But, when I open a recording from my video library, I get a window on top of my GBPVR Video Library menu. Maybe 85% percent of the screen. I cannot close the window. I can stop the video, but the window remains(black). I've tried using both the default software decoder and the Cyberlink codec. Same problem with both. It never occured until I installed v16 and all of the mpeg's were recorded in previous versions of GBPVR. Overlay Manager only. 'Show in window mode' is off. Any ideas?

Another small issue. I have to run the Configuration before starting GBPVR to get my Adaptec to work. If I run GBPVR after a reboot, I'll get an error every time. Anyone seen this?

More system info.
P3- 630 mhz
256mb ram
160GB HD
Radeon 9200SE
Adaptec VideoH DVD USB

Thanks

You typically get this extra window if the MPEG coder doesn't want to with the renderer. I've not done anything to this area of the code a couple of releases, so I suspect something else has caused the problem ...then again, all developers say this.

Have you, tried a different MPEG2 decoder (Cyberlink is probably also the system default)? Changed desktop color settings (32bit vs 24bit)? Are you able to try VMR7/VMR9/Overlay?

Sub,
Nothing really changed other then the install of v16. I tried VMR7 and VMR9 with the usual results. I'll try a couple of your suggestions. I probably just missed something. I'll let you know what I find.
Just curious, but what would be the difference between playing back an mpeg from the recordings menu and playing back an mpeg from the video library if all files were recorded by GRPVR?

Thanks for quick response and excellent software.

Sub,
I'm not sure what I've done, but it works again. It originally occured using the software default decoder. So I changed over to the Cyberlink. Nothing changed. I just went in and tried both VMR9 and VMR7 with the usual problems. I then changed back to the system default codec and it now works fine. Which codec is being used right now? I have no idea. I apologize for the 'odd' questions. I've been tweaking this system for 3 months. I've been trying to squeeze every ounce of power from this P3-600. Using different codecs may have caused the problem. I really need to completely 'flush' this install, format the drive and install XP and GBPVR only.

I have some other minor issues, but I'll look into them further before posting and eating up your precious time. [Image: smile.gif] Keep up the good work and thanks again.

Cheers. Good to know its working.

It can be hard to determine what the system default MPEG2 decoder is. Each decoder installed in the system has merit value. The one with the highest merit will be used. There are some utilities on the net to let you see the merit of each decoder.
