Problem with 'Record in this timeslot'

I'm having a problem with GB-PVR and recording a show in a certain timeslot. The show in question is "The Daily Show", which shows at 12am, a re-run of the previous show at 12:30am, then the same block is repeated at 2am-3am.

Since I record the show nightly, I only want to record the 12:00am-12:30am showing. However, when I selected the option to record all episodes "IN THIS TIMESLOT", GB-PVR marks ALL 4 episodes for recording, including the 2am-3am block.

The timeslot I want to record is 12am-12:30am, and that's how it shows up in the guide. Why would GB-PVR mark for recording shows not only close to (12:30am-1am) that timeslot, but shows over an hour later (2am)?

it is because of the timeset offset in the config.xml search it for 120. that is the amount of minutes to fudge either direction

You should just go aheead and set it to 0, personally. Since the guide is not going to update to help catch a last-minute change (eg, a presidental address), it will only help patch the problem of the timeslot for the show being moved 120 min in either direction (which would be a lucky catch at best on most networks).

It is especially frustrating if you record shows on FX, TNT, etc, where they may show somethign several times in a row. In cases like that, you would end up w/ all airings.

I'll have to play devil's advocate here and disagree with you. You're absolutely right that it won't catch last minute changes (there's nothing we can do about scheduling changes that don't make it to the guide), but over the course of a typical season it's pretty common for the scheduled airing of individual episodes of a show to get bumped fwd/back anywhere from 1 to 90 minutes (or even more in rare cases). NBC and ABC in particular have been doing this a lot in the past year. For example, most of this past season ABC would vary the scheduled start time of "Lost" and "Alias" by 1-5 minutes in either direction, every week! Personally, I think they did this just to screw with PVR/VCR folks, but that's another topic all-together. Anyway, if you have allowable timeslot variance set to zero AND have your reoccurring recording set to only record a particular timeslot, then I believe you will end up missing episodes.

You're right that it would have better potential for working on the major networks, but you're really going to need to make sure it's timesolt, and not time/day, since it's just as likely it will be new time and day.

I think it depends if you are a broadcast network viewer, or a cable network viewer for the most part.
