I'm not sure if there's an easy way around this. I have some channels that I can't pick up at all during winter via OTA, and some channels that show up as free preview every December-January (the past 4 years). I'd like to be able to keep the channel data in nPVR so that I can easily reactivate them when they come back, and so that the recordings I have on those channels keep the channel information & logo. I would keep them, but they trick my family when they see them on the tv guide. Any thoughts other than just deleting and re-adding them when they are available?
I have been trying to install SoftPVR for a few hours now and, after studying the batch file and the content of the extracted WinTV7 installer (version 3.9g, the current one on the Hauppauge site), it seems that Hauppauge has renamed and/or restructured the libraries and filters.
End result, the SoftPVR batch file doesn't work anymore (numerous 'file not found' errors) since the files it tries to pull from the WinTV7 installer are no longer there.
I have also had no luck whatsoever in trying to find an older installer of WinTV7. Oldest I managed to find was 3.7 and that still didn't have the correct files.
Would someone be so kind as to either:
- figure out what the new required filenames are so I can correct the batch file
- package just the files for SoftPVR and make that available
or
- Put the WinTV7 version 3.2 installer online?
I've reconfig'd my machine and rebuilt the channel tables for each device. I have a HDHR with 3 tuners and an Analog with a Hauppauge card.
Here's my problem...
For the HDHR, Silicon Dust import pulls in the channel name simply as the call-sign. (i.e. "MAXHDP" for channel 838)
For the XMLTV (analog) the channel name comes in as # Name(call-sign) (i.e. "838 MAXHDP")
When merging channels, they don't match because the channel number is included in the XMLTV import mapping (i.e. "MAXHDP" <> "838 MAXHDP"). This causes me to have to manually edit every channel that is duplicate between HDHR and the Analog input (see attached image).
However, when I look @ the XMLTV file, I see the display name can be mapped via 6 entries (i.e. it's a list). The npvr import uses the 1st entry. Is there anyway to have it map to the 4th entry so that it matches the SiliconDust HDHR mapping? I think this may allow the merge function to work much better.
If there is not a way to do this, can I manually edit the XMLTV file and move the target display-name entry to the first position? Will that cause any undesired side effects for future EPG updates when a new XMLTV file is pulled and has the original order?
Sub, when does the delete from temp_file occur as part of the EPG update or only when the services restarts. Kodi is going to have add undelete feature and that got me thinking that with the NShared.TempFileManager I could fake queued deletes with the Files plugin.
I have Cyber link Power DVD and would like to add it to the settings in NPVR decoders section. The MPEG2 decoder is disabled and will not allow any change. What do I need to do to set this?
This is a minor point but on my latest installation on a win7 professional 64 computer, NPVR always comes up in the back. I know to right click on the screen and select "stay on top" and that works. But the next time I start NPVR I have to do that over again. I don't have to do that on the machine running win7 professional 32. Is there a Win setting that always allows a new program to start on top or am I missing a NPVR setting?
Due to serious comp issues, I had to restore my HD to a version that was approx 2 years old, when I was using xmltv as epg source- back then when I began having problems with xml, I switched to schedules direct and everything has run smooth as butter since. The system was so stable I didn't really have to get into any setting tweaks, so I have forgotten much of what I knew when I first setup. I have updated nextpvr to the most current, but all my settings "think" they're two years old - The problem occurs when trying to change epg from xml to Schedules Direct. Every time, it says I have wrong user name and password. I have confirmed directly with SD website and everything should be fine - my account is active and I have correct user name and pass. I have been in the channels menu, selecting a channel, selecting "details" and trying to change to SD there. Is there some kind of "master" setting for epg that I should be looking for ?

Not sure if this has been noted elsewhere, I thought I'd post here incase anyone else runs into this problem.
I noticed my EPG update started failing on 2/10/2015. After some investigation, I noticed xmltv.exe started failing with the message:
Code:
Service description 'http://docs.tms.tribune.com/tech/tmsdatadirect/schedulesdirect/tvDataDelivery.wsdl' can't be loaded: 500 Can't connect to docs.tms.tribune.com:80 (connect: Unknown error)
I suspect this has to do with the changes Schedules Direct has made and they turned off their old feed.
You'll need to download the new version of XMLTV (I used v0.5.66) and reconfigure. Once I did that, all is good again.
