What do people use for UK EPG data (Standard Channels) for XML Data
Posted by: jksmurf - 2014-02-13, 11:33 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (6)

I'm outside the UK.

I tried Birtles XMLTV GUI but it does not work (login etc). It appears to be out of action /superseded?
WebGrab seems to have it but is complicated.

Thanks

SchedulesDirect update error "underlying connection was closed"
Posted by: Wakalaka - 2014-02-13, 07:14 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Today I noticed that I had no TV Listings data, so I ran the Settings app and clicked Channels -> Update EPG.
I get an error message "The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly."
I logged into my SchedulesDirect account and my lineup still exists.
I pause protection for Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) 14.0.0.4651(d) and I don't get the problem.
I have NDigitalHost.exe and NRecord.exe listed as Trusted Applications.
Is there an app that is missing? KIS isn't too friendly with showing me a log of what it blocked, so it's hard to figure out what is wrong.

Recording fails if the recording name ends in ellipsis (...)
Posted by: gabortel - 2014-02-12, 05:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

If a recurring recording's name ends in ellipsis (...), the recording fails. The directory for the recording is created without the ending ... and may cause the 'Invalid file passed to StartParallelProcessing()' error message in the attached nrecord log. If the ... is deleted manually from the recording name, everything works, as it shown by the second log.

I suspect it is a windows-logic of naming folders, because if I right-click on the desktop, select new, then folder, and type abc..., then a folder called abc is created, without the ... The same happens with a single dot at the end.

So, some workaround in NextPVR would be nice. My suggestion is automatic removal of the trailing dots from the programme title, when it is used as the recording name. Thanks

Samsung F6400 remote sends signals to NPVR
Posted by: wodger - 2014-02-11, 11:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Wasn't sure where exactly to put this. I just got a Samsung 55F6400 TV. When I use the TV's remote I find NPVR 'sees' the commands, not perfectly though, and weird things happen - music plays, live TV plays, menus move etc etc. The remote receiver connected to the NPVR computer is a Hauppauge one plugged into one of my PCI tuners.

Haven't tried the Logitech universal remote yet, but it kinda needs to work better than it is with the regular TV remote.

Pretty obvious what's happening, not a NPVR fault, but what to do? Cheers.

forums.gbpvr.com now my homepage due to olympics...
Posted by: johnsonx42 - 2014-02-11, 07:49 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (5)

Every damned time I start my web browser, some big headline about the olympics pops up, spoiling results of events I won't watch for another 12 hours or so. So far I think I've known already about every USA medal and failure-to-medal before I could watch it. Those of you in Europe get the events closer to live, but still if you record them and watch later (to skip commercials if for no other reason) you must get the same effect. Annoying isn't it?

mc2xml started pulling wrong channels - advice on what to do?
Posted by: tradergordo - 2014-02-11, 01:13 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (2)

My guide data disappeared several weeks ago. In the past when this happened, I found a new version of mc2xml and that fixed the problem, but I have the latest version and there haven't been any recent updates. No settings have been changed in many months, and it was working fine until a few weeks ago. The mc2mxl command is:

mc2xml -c us -g 19460 -d 168 -o TVGUIDE.xml -s -6

I checked the xml output file (this is for antenna / over the air only). The guide data is all there, but it looks like the channel numbers are wrong. One example:

<channel id="I48.28455483.microsoft.com">
<display-name>48 KYWDT</display-name>
<display-name>48</display-name>
<display-name>KYWDT</display-name>
<display-name>KYWDT (KYW-DT)</display-name>
<display-name>CBS Affiliate</display-name>
</channel>

KWY is CBS, channel 3 for me (digital frequency is 26). Why does it say "48"? I have no idea... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KYW-TV)

I think I could probably remap channels in the NPVR settings ->Channels, so "48" maps to my channel 3 / kyw. But then I assume if/when the problem is ever fixed, I would have to do it all over again, remapping every channel. Is there some way I can back up the original and copy it over if this problem gets fixed? Since it has been like this for a number of weeks now, I'm not sure when it might get fixed?

Note: I did try to delete the XML guide data, and let it refresh automatically, but this did not help, still had the wrong channel numbers.

Has anyone else seen this before, and what did you do?

Does this REALLY work with DirecTV?
Posted by: sicilian68 - 2014-02-10, 03:13 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I have been looking for a DirecTV recording solution for my pc for a LONG time. Have tried many applications but none will record one channel while I watch another. I have:

One DirecTV set top box
3 GHz Intel cpu, 4 GB RAM, two 500 GB hdd, one ATI single tuner card, one Hauppauge dual tuner card.
One dual port usb IR Blaster, and/or the two IR Blasters that came with the Hauppauge tuner.

I have successfully set up several different applications but none of them will record one channel while watching/recording another. It will ONLY record the channel being viewed. DOES NPVR HAVE THE ABILITY TO WATCH AND RECORD SEPARATE CHANNLES SIMULTANEOUSLY USING JUST ONE DIRECTV SET TOP BOX? Or does all solutions require 2 or more set top boxes? If that's the case, should I just ditch the entire idea? I wanted to use my htpc as a dvr with just the one set top box to avoid the extra cost of an additional set top box and/or dvr service. Please advise and thanks in advance.

  Missing a channel
Posted by: jm7 - 2014-02-09, 05:15 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (15)

NPVR finds most of the channels I am interested in, but not ATSC physical channel 8 Digital sub channels 1, 2, and 3. It also does not find NTSC channel 8 (but I really don't care). The TV that is on the same cable does see 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3. No channels are found below physical channel 10. The Tuner is a HaupPage WinTv-2250 (8851). I found the thread that indicated that I should delete the 8851 portion of the devices configuration XML file. That allowed the NPVR to find all except this one channel that I am interested in.

I expect there is more information that would be useful to help debug, but, I don't know what it is.

No reception for stations broacasting on frequencies above 12000 MHz
Posted by: MHBN - 2014-02-09, 01:23 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hi All,

First off, many thanks for great NPVR. So far I've had excellent success with NPVR 3.1.1 on WIN7 as standalone or with XBMC.

The system I am using is a Gigabyte G85M with Intel i3-4130.
I try to get some of the local stations that broadcast on Astra 19.2 e.g. (12422,H,27500,34,DVB-S,QPSK). I have created a .ini file with transponder list from http://satellites-xml.eu for Astra 19.2.
The program scans all frequencies and shows reception for everthing on frequencies 9000-11999 MHz but not above.
In contrast, with WMC the reception is present for all frequencies.

Is there something I missed to set in the program?

Thanks for help.
